Mary Bowles Miller was born on 5 December 1827 in Pennsylvania.¹ She married John Stouffer Shirk, son of Rev. Jacob Balmer Shirk and Susan Stouffer, on 22 October 1850. Mary Bowles Miller died on 12 May 1893.¹

She was buried in May 1893 in Sheller Cemetery, Melrose Twp., Grundy Co., IA.
