Believe Bryant Mathias Had Heart Attack

The body of Bryant A. Mathias, 68, retired Pine Creek township farmer for 30 years, wsa found in his auto at the southeast edge of Dixon Sunday morning.

Local police and Sheriff Charles H. Redebaugh investigated and found that the car ignition was on and theiorized that he probably died of a heart attack. A check with his wife showed he left home about 7:30 a.m. Mr. Mathias evidently bought a Sunday paper and was on his way home at the time of his death.

His wife said he had been taking treatments for a heart ailment. An inquest was held at Buckley-Staples funeral home this morning. He had been residing in Woosung since his retirement.

He is survived by his widow, Della; a son, Pearl, Dixon; a daughter, Mrs. Dorothy Schrock, Rockford; a brother, George, Dixon; four sisters, Mrs. Ray Brooks, Pine Creek, Mrs. Peter Bovey, Grand Detour, Mrs. Ed Henskie, St. Louis, and Mrs. Virgil O'Dair, Dixon, and two grandchildren.

Services will be held Wednesday at 2 o'clock in the Burkley-Staples funeral home, the Rev. H. E. Trimble of the Christian church officiating. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home.

Coroner Robert Preston told The Telegraph the inquest revealed Mr. Mathias died of coronary thrombosis.[:C:R].
