Simon Joseph Moomaw was born on 8 August 1855 in Botetourt Co., VA.1 He married Annie L. Slusser, daughter of Henry Slusser and Jane Zimmerman, about 1881.1 Simon Joseph Moomaw married Sarah M. Slusser, daughter of John Slusser and Sarah Rader, on 6 February 1889.1 Simon Joseph Moomaw died after 1926 in Bluffton, Wells Co., IN, Mr. Moomaw received his education in the public schools; spent about 2 years clerking in store of general merchandise; returned to the farm and in 1892 added the business of canning fruits and vegetables; in December, 1904 moved to Muncie, Ind., where the following year he engaged in the grocery business for about two years when he moved to a farm near Dunkirk, Ind. After farming until 1909, moved to Bluffton, Ind., where he became a buyer of cream, poultry, and eggs. In 1917, elected City Clerk, serving four years, when in the fall of 1921 he was elected to the combined office of City Clerk-Treasurer, taking the same Jan. 1, 1922, for a four-year term.1
