Jack Marvin Charles, age 79, resident of Kingsville, Texas passed away Friday, September 23, 2011 in Kingsville. He was born on November 11, 1931 in Dallas, Texas to William Thomas Charles and Hazel Blair Charles. Mr. Charles made his career with the U.S. Navy retiring in 1970. He was a veteran of the Korean War and Vietnam Era. After his retirement, Jack was an agent for Tex-Pack as well as a contract mail carrier and a small business owner. He was a faithful member and deacon of Retama Park Baptist Church. Jack enjoyed being a voluneer for Christus Spohn Hospital Kleberg.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Juanita Charles of Kingsville; three daughters, Jackie Owens (deceased), Jeanne Hahn (Brant) of Boerne, Texas and Joyce Coleman (Greg) of Kingsville; two sons, John Charles (Suzanne) of Round Rock, Texas and James Charles (Lisa) of Kingsville; 10 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Visitation will take place from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Monday, September 26, 2011 at the Turcotte-Piper Mortuary. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 27, 2011 at Retama Park Baptist Church, 515 General Cavazos Blvd., Kingsville, with Rev. Gary Clements officiating. Burial will follow in Kingsville at Resthaven Cemetery with full military honors provided by the Veterans of Kleberg County Military Funeral Detail.
Memorials may be made to Volunteers of Christus Spohn Hospital Kleberg, 1311 East General Cavazos Blvd., Kingsville, Texas 78363 or Retama Park Baptist Church, P.O. Box 433, Kingsville, Texas 78364.

Mrs. Greenlee was a member of Lowman United Methodist Church.
She married James R. Greenlee on March 22, 1933. He died Dec. 13, 1984.
Survivors include a son, Richard D. Greenlee, Mesa, Ariz.; two grandsons, and a great-grandson.
Memorial services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Jellison Chapel at Topeka Presbyterian Manor. Burial at Mount Hope Cemetery will be private. DR. SHIPLEY DIES; PRACTICED IN PARIS FOR TWENTY YEARS
Dr. Clark Lee Shipley, 58, practicing physician of Paris for the past 20 years, died at 10:30 o'clock on Sunday [Monday] evening. For three years he had been in ill health, suffering from a complication of diseases. A week ago he was taken to Paris hospital where death occurred.
Brief funeral services will be held at St. Mary's Catholic church at 9 o'clock on Wednesday morning and burial will be later at Edgar cemetery. The body is at the Cook & Wright funeral home.
Dr. Shipley was born in Edgar county on February 2, 1881, a son of Amos and Sarah Brackney Shipley. Following his graduation from St. Louis College of Physicians and Surgeons he practiced at Olathe, Kans., and then at Libertyville, Ind.
Surviving are his second wife, formerly Veronica McCormick of Ambia, Ind., to whom he was married in 1931, and three children by a former marriage, including Lester, Elva and Kenneth Shipley, all of Paris.
The deceased is also survived by three brothers and three sisters Amos of Goose Creek, Tex., Courtley and John Shipley, Mrs. Harry Adams, Mrs. Cora Guymon and Mrs. Otha Qualkenbush, all of Paris.
Dr. Shipley was a member of the Aesculapian Medical Society of the Wabash Valley.
The Shipley residence is at 905 South Central avenue.
