Mr. James C. Moore, of Near Town and Mr. Wm. T. Bronaugh, of Pembroke.

Mr. James C. Moore one of the best citizens of Christian county, died of pneumonia Wednesday afternoon in the 56th year of his age.

Mr. Moore was born in this county in 1847, and was a son of James W. Moore, one of the most prominent members of the Masonic order who ever lived in this county. He grew to manhood on his father's farm and received a liberal education. He became a successful planter and in 1877 was married to Miss Bettie Campbell, second daughter of B. S. and Maria Campbell. His wife and five children survive him. The children are Jas. C. Moore, Jr., a civil engineer with the L. & N. railroad, at Evansville; Miss Mary Moore, Ben and Gus, of this city, and Milton, the youngest, still in school.

Mr. Moore's death was shockingly sudden. He was sick only a few days. He was a man of commanding presence and fine physique. More than six feet in height and of athletic build, he was the very picture of health and strength. He was a member of and elder in the Ninth Street Presbyterian church, and his life was that of a consistent Christian and a most useful man and citizen.

The funeral services were held at one o'clock yesterday afternoon and the burial took place in Hopewell Cemetery later in the afternoon.

SALISBURY - Guy William Starling, 93, of Trinity Oaks, formerly of Arlington, Va., died Friday, December 14, 2007, at Rowan Regional Medical Center.

Born June 19, 1914, in Hopkinsville, KY, he was the son of the late Guy and Kate Wallace Starling.

Mr. Starling attended Centre College in KY. He served in the United States Navy during World War II. He was a Member of Trinity Presbyterian Church in Arlington, where he served as a Deacon, a church elder and sang in the choir for more than 50 years.

He also enjoyed helping with Meals on Wheels, and he enjoyed outside activities such as bowling, golf, tennis, and photography.

He worked 41 years in the photography department for the National Geographic Society before retiring in 1979.

Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Josephine Davis Starling; one daughter, Joanna S. Murphy of Statesville; one son, Guy W. Starling Jr. and wife Helen of Warner Robins, Ga.; four grandchildren, Kate Johnston of Statesville, Patrick Murphy and wife Amy of Statesville, Stephanie S. Guimond and husband Steve of Kathleen, Ga., Jennifer S. Holloway and husband Ken of Frederick, Md.; six great-grandchildren, Rebecca Ayers, John Michael Snow, Sarah Beth Murphy and Jacob Murphy all of Statesville, and Amanda Guimond and Samuel Guimond both of Kathleen, Ga., one brother, Wallace Starling and wife Alice of Hopkinsville, KY; three nephews, Wallace Starling Jr. and wife Elise, John Starling and wife Barbara, and Phil Starling and wife Cindy all of Hopkinsville, KY.

Service: A Memorial service will be held Monday at 1:00 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church with Dr. Jim Duncan officiating. Visitation will follow.

A memorial service for Alfred Wallace Starling Sr., 98, Hopkinsville, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Charlie Evans officiating.

The body was cremated, and burial of remains will be at Riverside Cemetery.

Hughart, Beard and Giles Funeral Home, Hopkinsville is in charge of arrangements.

He died Jan. 4, 2015, at his home of natural causes.

A native of Hopkinsville, he was born Sept. 13, 1916, the son of the late Guy and Kate Wallace Starling.

He was retired as a salesman from Bass & Co. and Nelson Wholesale Kitchens. He was a World War II Marine Corps veteran and a member of First Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include his wife, Alice Starling; sons, Wallace (Elise Todd) Starling Jr., John (Barbara Brannon) Starling and Philip (Cindy McHale) Starling, all of Hopkinsville; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Alice H. Starling, 87, of Hopkinsville, died Sunday, December 6, 2015, at 7:08 a.m. at her home of natural causes.

A native of Tulsa, Oklahoma, she was born February 7, 1928, the daughter of the late William McNair and Grace Sims Hulse. She was a school teacher, a member of the Dyslexia board, and the co-founder of the Mount Pleasant Neighborhood Association. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred Wallace Starling, Sr. January 4, 2015, and her daughter, Lucy Whitlock Starling.

She is survived by her 3 sons: Wallace Starling, Jr. (Elise Todd), John Starling (Barbara Brannon) and Philip Starling (Cindy McHale) all of Hopkinsville; 9 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
