Mildred V. Mowery, 92, a resident of the Claremont Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Middlesex Township, formerly of Greenspring Road, Newville died Wednesday, Feb. 24, 1999 in the center.
Born Feb. 2, 1907 in Upper Mifflin Township, Cumberland County, she was the daughter of the late Mervin Hannah and Aldora Berdella Shulenberger Swartz.
She was a lifetime member of the Zion United Church of Christ, Newburg. She served on the board of elections for North Newton Township and owned and operated a sewing business in her home.
She attended the former Shippensburg Normal School and was a 1924 graduate of the former Newville High School.
She is survived by two sons, Chester A. Mowery of Landisburg and Glenn E. Mowery of Malvern; one sister, Ruth Cramer of Newburg; 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by three sons, four brothers and five sisters.
Funeral services will be held Saturday in the Zion United Church of Christ, Newburg at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Alan K. Foor officiating. Burial will be in the Zion Cemetery, Hopewell Township, Cumberland County.

Funeral services were held this morning for Albert G. Mowery, husband of Mrs. Esther Smith Mowery, 10 Hill Crest Drive, Palmyra, from the Rohland Funeral Home. The Rev. Donald H. Fogelsanger, pastor of the Lebanon Church of the Brethren officiated.
Pallbearers were Jack Hopple, Wayne Smith, and four sons of the deceased, Chester, Bruce, Glenn, and Ray Mowery.

A veteran of World War II, the Rev. Mr. Mowery, was pastor of the Harmony Bethel and Hanover Churches of God for the last three years. He formerly served as pastor of the Landisburg Church of God for three years.
