Glen P. Shelton, 95 years of age, of Somerset, Kentucky, departed this life on Sunday, March 3rd, 2013 at the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.
He was born on March 9th, 1917 in Marshall, North Carolina, son of the late Chapelle and Martha Jane Shelton. He attended the New Hope Baptist Church and was a retired carpenter.
Glen was survived by his loving wife, Olzetta Marie Shelton, whom he married on May 15th, 1996 in Huntsville, Tennessee; one son, Kelsey (and Joyce) Shelton of Tusculum, Tennessee; one step-son in Ohio and one in Kentucky; four daughters, Rebeca Bowers of Chuckey, Tennessee, Barbara (and James) Lovelace of Locust Grove, Virginia, Joann (and John) Foster of Tusculum, Tennessee, and Phyllis (and Wallace) Kirk of Mosheim, Tennessee; two step-daughters in Ohio; grandchildren, Eva (and Alan) Campbell, Sandy (and Mike) McInturff, Mary (and Mike) Mack, Julie (and Bill) Renner, David (and Pam) Bowers, Bryan (and Lisa) Kirk, Todd (and Mindi) Kirk, Wayne (and Jody) Shelton, Paul Shelton, Steven Lovelace, Belinda Lovelace and Melanie and Joe Bowman, Jane (and Andy) Easterly, Joy (and Greg) Broyles, Sandra (and Dave) Gass, Karen (and Robert) Cooter, Lisa (and Mark) Clifton and Jerry Vaughn, Jr.; several great grandchildren; one brother, Paul Shelton of Chuckey, Tennessee; one sister, Maybrey Gfellers of Chuckey, Tennessee; several nieces and nephews; and a host of other family and friends who mourn his passing.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Chapelle and Martha Jane Shelton; four brothers, Theron Shelton, Herbert Shelton, Donald Shelton, and Chad Shelton; one sister, Wavel Pillsbury and an infant sister; Mary W. Burgess, mother of children listed above; one daughter, Brenda Sutherland; and three sisters, Lacey, Grace and Macey Shelton.

Dr. Charles Rhea Earnest, 78, of G'Fellers Road, Chuckey, formerly of Knoxville, died Monday morning at his home.
Dr. Earnest was a widely-known Knoxville physician, having practiced 50 years before retiring in November 1997.
He was a 1938 graduate of what was then Knoxville High School. He was a 1942 graduate of the University of Tennessee of Knoxville and a 1944 graduate of the University of Tennessee College of Medicine in Memphis.
Upon completion of medical school, Dr. Earnest entered the U.S. Navy as a ship doctor. He was discharged in 1946 and entered Ohio State University to serve an internship.
He began practice of general medicine in Knoxville on July 1, 1949.
Those close to him said that Dr. Ernest's life centered around his patients, to whom he was very devoted.
He was a son of the late Bonnie (Johnson) and Charles Rhea Earnest Sr., and a direct descendant of Felix Earnest, who fought at King's Mountain as a lieutenant under John Sevier.
He was preceded in death by three sisters: Barbara Main, Carolyn Earnest, and Virginia Earnest; and a brother: Robert Isaac Earnest.

Howard Hoyle Earnest Sr., 86, of Chuckey, died Friday evening at the Johnson City Medical Center.
He was born June 22, 1923, in Knoxville, and was a son of the late Bonnie (Johnson) and Charles Rhea Earnest Sr.
Mr. Earnest was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, working on PT boats in the South Pacific.
Following his service in World War II, he returned to the family farm in Chuckey.
Mr. Earnest was a farmer and retired from the TWRA (Tennessee Wildlife Resource Agency) as supervisor in District 1.
After retirement, he became an outdoor writer for the Johnson City Press.
Mr. Earnest was a member of Greeneville Lodge No. 3, F&AM.
"He loved the outdoors, nature, and wildlife. He was very proud of his family, whom he loved deeply," the family noted.
He was the widower of Luella Lovin Earnest, his wife of 64 years who died Aug. 7, 2008.
He was preceded in death by three sisters: Barbara Main, Louise Earnest, and Virginia Earnest; and two brothers: Robert Earnest and Charlie Earnest.

Luella Lovin Earnest, 85, of Chuckey, died Thursday at the Johnson City Medical Center.
Mrs. Earnest was a member of Cedar Grove United Methodist Church and the Order of the Eastern Star.
She attended Hiwassee College and at the age of 16 began teaching in Monroe County. After 20 years away from teaching to raise her children, she returned to teaching in Greene County at Chuckey Elementary School until her retirement at age 65.
"She was loved by her many friends and family. She enjoyed reading, the Christmas season, cooking and the color red. She will always be missed," her family stated.
Mrs. Earnest was preceded in death by her parents: John Harvey and Pearl Anna Young Lovin; two sisters: Grace Jones and Arbrie Bainbridge; and two brothers: Norman Lovin and Claude Lovin.
