dates per SSDI, last residence Kansas City. Obituary (via Findagrave.com):

MARGARET McLEOD HENDREN

Margaret McLeod Hendren died peacefully at home Saturday October 4,2003, just a month shy of her 105th birthday. A celebration of thanksgiving will be held at St. Paul's Episcopal Church on Wednesday, October 15, at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, she would be pleased by a remembrance to St. Paul's Church, St. Luke's Hospital or the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art.

Mrs. Hendren was born November 8, 1898, in New Orleans, LA, to Elizabeth and William McLeod. Because of her academic achievement in high school, she graduated at age 16. Deemed too young to enter college, she took a postgraduate year in Athens, GA. She then entered Newcomb College of Tulane University, majoring in music. An accomplished pianist, she gave many individual recitals. Her musical interests were broad and at one time she accompanied the popular jazz group, "Six and Seven Eights." She received the honor of being made a member of Mu Phi Epsilon, the national music society. She was a longtime, loyal member of Kappa Kappa Gamma.

In 1923, Margaret married William Hardy Hendren Jr. They had three children, Margaret Hendren Lombardi, Dr. William Hardy Hendren, and Carol Hendren Robb.

In 1933, they moved to Kansas City, where Mr. Hendren became the president of United Film.

Margaret was a member of St. Paul's Altar Guild, St. Luke's Auxiliary, and a 40-year volunteer docent at the Nelson Gallery, Docent Emeritae and Society of Fellows. She was a member of the Junior League. In 2002, she was saluted for her 73 years of membership in the Junior League, and was recently recognized as the oldest living member of the Kansas City Country Club.

Margaret is survived by her two children and their spouses, Hardy and Eleanor Hendren of Boston, Carol and Bruce Robb of Kansas City.

Dr. Hendren is distinguished professor of surgery, Harvard Medical School and emeritus chief of surgery at Children's Hospital in Boston, She has 16 grandchildren. Dr. Hendren's children are Douglas Hardy Hendren, M.D., William Grant Hendren, M.D., Robert Bruce Hendren, M.D., and David Frasier Hendren. Margaret Lombardi's children are Lucy Evans, David Lombardi, and Kimball Lombardi. Carol Robb's children are Melanie McLeod Smith, Adam Bruce Robb, and Margaret Adele O'Neill. Altogether, there are 22 great-grandchildren.

As the matriarch of many, her memory will be cherished for her intelligence, her sharp sense of humor, her consideration of others, and her staunch, Scottish fortitude.

Kansas City Star, The (MO) - Friday, October 10, 2003.

She was buried in October 2003 in Elmwood Cemetery, Norfolk, Norfolk City, VA, Findagrave #60431941.

Note: Margaret's name appears to have been inadvertently omitted from the 1900 census. The enumerator was clearly told that Elizabeth was the mother of two children, both of whom were living, and her listing is annotated accordingly. However, after her son Kenneth, the next name that was written was that of Margaret Davidson, a niece of the head of household.

Note:

Margaret McLeod Hendren arrived at the port of New York from Le Havre, France on the ship Paris.

Dr. Margaret Ingalls McLeod lived on 17 April 1930 in 3325 Coliseum Street, New Orleans, Orleans Par., LA.2

Note: William and Margaret Hendren arrived at the port of New Orleans on the ship Flandre, which had departed New Orleans on 26 FEB 1956.
