"Oakwood Ptl. Dick Musselman went to the scene and grabbed a suspect on Hadley Ave., about a block and a half from the church.

He was identified as Gawaine Francis Johnson, 19, of 1018 Brown St."

Lt. William F. Bippus

Military funeral services and burial for Lt. William F. Bippus, former Daytonian, and three other airman, all of whom lost their lives in 1945 (sic) in Jorhat, India, on a flight "over the hump" to China, were conducted Tuesday at National Military cemetery at Ft. Scott, Kan.

Lt. Bippus was the son of the late William F. Bippus and Mrs. Bippus, the latter now living in Los Angeles. His father was at one time treasurer of the National Cash Register Co. and at the time of his death, in 1932, was president of Joyce-Cridland Co.

Besides his mother, Lt. Bippus is survived by his former wife, now Mrs. Phyllis Anne Krumholz, Jr., and two children, William Franklin Bippus III, and Phyllis Anne Bippus, all of Dayton.

Cause of death: He was a pilot with the Air Transport Command and was killed in action in WW II flying a mission over the Himalayas (the "Hump") to China in the China-Burma-Inida Theatre.
