Samuel became the owner of considerable land and at his death owned three fine Shenandoah county farms. Samuel and his brother, Joseph H. were left the home place at Fairview by their father Henry's will. Roughly this land was the portion of the original Jacob's land grant owned by Abraham on the map.
They partitioned the land between them. Each received a dwelling house, half of the barn, half of the bake oven, half of the blacksmith shop, smoke house, spring house and granary. Water rights were also set forth. Shenandoah County, Virginia Deed Book No. 4, page 262, Feb 1857.
Samuel bought another farm on Toms Brook in 1880 of 200 acres, and a third farm, one and a half miles from Strasburg,
Virginia of 206 acres in 1883, all of which he possessed at his death in 1901.
He was buried in May 1901 in Mount Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery, Alonzaville, Shenandoah Co., VA, Findagrave #132007368.

Alger Lee Coffelt, 83, of Edinburg, Virginia, passed away Wednesday, May 25, 2016 at the Winchester Medical Center.
He was born November 5, 1932 in Woodstock, Virginia, and was the son of the late Joseph Melvin and Goldie Windle Coffelt.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandson, Brett Allen Cooper.
Mr. Coffelt was a veteran of the U. S. Army having served in Korea.
He was a farm manager most of his life. He raised Angus cattle and thousands of turkeys during his career.
In his younger days, he enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson Motorcycle. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. In his retirement years he loved to go camping with his family and friends.
Mr. Coffelt is survived by his wife of 60 years, Mary Baker Coffelt; three daughters, Jane Ryman (Dwayne) of Edinburg, Joan Fletcher (Robert) of Edinburg and Julie Cooper (Butch) of Woodstock; six grandchildren, Dawn deCourcy, Matthew deCourcy (Stephanie), Jarrett Cooper (Nicole), Jordan Cooper, Skyler Fletcher (Ashleigh) and Jennifer Wiatrowski (David); and five great-grandchildren.
He was buried in May 2016 in Cedarwood Cemetery, Edinburg, Shenandoah Co., VA, Findagrave #45137367.
