Marvin Windle

Marvin (Joe) Windle, 69, 449 W. Main St., Annville, died last night in the Good Samaritan Hospital. He was the husband of Drucilla Keller Windle.

Born in Woodstock, Va., he was the son of the late Levi and Sarah Shite(sp) Windle. He was a retired maintenance foreman at the Bethlehem Mines, F.F. Millard Lime and Stone, Annville. He was a member of the Annville Church of the Brethren.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by: two sons, Franklin, Myerstown, and John, Annville; six daughters, Margaret, - wife of Robert George, Edinburgh(sp), Va.; Becky, wife of George Evans, Palmyra; Janice, wife of Eugene Fortna, Annville; Rose Windle, Palmyra; Drucilla, wife of John Emrich, Annville, and Mary Jane, wife of Frank Wampler, Hershey; 21 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and two brothers, William C. Windle, Cleona, and Stewart Windle, Woodstock, Va. A daughter, Virginia Kingsley, preceded him in death in 1974. His first wife, Lottie Wetzel Windle, died in 1930.

PALMYRA....Bernice W. Bashore, 82, of Debra Drive, Palmyra, died Monday, March 17, 2008, in her residence. She was the wife of Jay L. Bashore, to whom she was married to for 61 years. Born in Annville on February 10, 1926, she was the daughter of the late William and Margaret Hardick Windle. She was employed by Hershey Foods Corp. in the miniature wrapping department, retiring in 1989 and was a 1944 graduate of Annville High School. Surviving in addition to her husband are two sons, William C. and wife Lynn Shaffer Bashore of Hershey, Gregory L. Bashore, at home; a daughter, Bonnie Sponseller of Scotland, PA.; three grandchildren, Kara Sponseller of Richmond, Va.; Jamie Bashore Watts, wife of Roger Watts of Fayetteville, N.C., and Josh Bashore of Key West, Fla.; and one great-grandson, Addison G. Watts of Fayetteville, N.C. Also surviving is a sister, Carolyn Touchton of Reading.

Carolyn C. (Windle) Touchton, a homemaker, passed away peacefully on Tuesday morning in Bryn Mawr Hospital at the age of 82. Mrs. Touchton, a resident of King of Prussia, was a graduate Annville-Cleona High School. She was an avid Eagles and Penn State Football fan. She loved to travel with her late husband and enjoyed entertaining family and friends. But most of all, Mrs. Touchton loved the company of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Born in Annville on April 24, 1928, she was the daughter of the late William and Margaret (Hardick) Windle and the widow of Joseph T. Touchton, who died on July 12, 2004. Surviving is a son, Gary Touchton, and his wife, Elaine, of King of Prussia; granddaughters, Michelle Paret and her husband, Christopher and Melissa D'Alleva and her husband, Nicolas; and great-grandchildren, Maya and Abigail. She was preceded in death by a sister, Bernice Bashore. Relatives and friends are invited to attend Mrs. Touchton's graveside service to be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. in Riverside Cemetery, 200 S. He was a retired Plant foreman at Bethlehem mines in Annville.

Jay was a U. S. Army Veteran of WWII who served in the European Theatre and received the Bronze Star, World War american Service Medal, Distinguished Unit Badge, and the Combat Infantry Badge.

He was a member of the Campbelltown American Legion, Palmyra V.F.W. Post, and god's Country Snowmobile Club.
