Shirley A. Rita of Columbus died Tuesday, June 5, 2012, at Deborah Heart and Lung Center in Browns Mills. She was 85.
Mrs. Rita was born in Goose Creek, Ill., and had lived in the Burlington County area for many years.
She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
An expert seamstress, Mrs. Rita was a 4-H sewing club leader for many years, and also taught quilting to many classes for many years. With a few of her quilting friends, she made the New Jersey State Quilt for the Bicentennial Celebration.
An avid reader, she was a supporter of the Burlington County Library; she was a member of Sacred Heart Church in Mount Holly, and a former member of the Altar Rosary Society.
Wife of the late Daniel Rita, Mrs. Rita is survived by four children, Rose Falkner and her husband, Thomas, of Westminster, Md., Daniel Rita and his wife, Phyllis, of Mount Holly, Cheri Acker and her husband, Edward, of Charlottesville, Va., and Patti Windle and her husband, T.K. of Maui, Hawaii. She also is survived by eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and a sister, Barbara Mitchell of Lafayette, Ind.
Friends and relatives are invited to visit with the family, from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, at Perinchief Chapels, 438 High Street, Mount Holly. Interment will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Hainesport.
