Glenna M. Fagan, 89, of Vandalia, formerly of Troy, passed away at 8:30 a.m. Monday, July 13, 2009, at Englewood Manor.

She was born Oct. 8, 1919, in Miami County, to the late Archie and Helena (Mendenhall) Chambers. Glenna married Arthur K. Fagan and he preceded her in death on Oct. 6, 1978.

She is survived by her three sons and daughters-in-law, Donald and Shirlee Fagan of Fallbrook, Calif., Gary and Karen Fagan of Vandalia and Tom and Jane Fagan of Butler Township, Montgomery County; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; 14 great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Jean Kiehl of Bowling Green.

In addition to her husband and parents, Glenna was preceded in death by her stepfather, William C. Shellhouse; grandson, Michael Fagan; two brothers, Glenn and Ray Shellhouse; and sister, Thelma Martin Sullivan.

She was a graduate of Newton High School in Pleasant Hill. Glenna was a member of the First United Church of Christ, Troy. She was a member and former officer of the U.A.W. Local 128 Retirees Club of Troy. Glenna was a longtime volunteer kindergarten aide at Murlin Heights Elementary School in Butler Township.

The funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Fisher-Cheney Funeral Home, Troy, with Pastor Carol Bastin officiating. Visitation will take place at the funeral home from noon to 1:30 p.m. Saturday. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery, Troy.

He was born on April 23, 1918, in Miami County, a son of the late Jerry and Emma (Elifritz) Plunkett. He married Mary McMaster on May 6, 1939, and she preceded him in death on Sept. 15, 1992.

Mr. Plunkett is survived by three children, Janet MacKeller of San Diego, Calif., Sandra (Darrell) Langston of Houston and Robert (Barbara) Plunkett of Fletcher, 13 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; 16 great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Betty Wilt of Tipp City; and a brother Bernard "Bud" Plunkett of Fletcher.

In addition to his parents, three sisters and three brothers preceded him in death.

Mr. Plunkett was a 1936 graduate of Brown Local School. He engaged in farming and carpentry.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at in the Suber-Shively Funeral Home, 201 W. Main St., Fletcher, with the Rev. James Manuel of Houston Congregational Christian Church presiding. Burial will follow in Fletcher Cemetery.

COLUMBIANA-Willard D. Hetric, 97, of Columbiana, Ohio, died on Tuesday, March 8, 2011, at Parkside Health Care Center.

Mr. Hetric was born on March 2, 1914, in Columbiana. He was the son of the late Ira A. and Margaret M. McGale Hetric, and he lived most of his life in Columbiana.

He is survived by his sister, Helen Miller; his daughter, Amanda; his son, Deane; his daughter-in-law, Suzanne, nieces, Jo Ann Kale, Kathy Steele, Carol Thomas and Marty Metzler; and nephews, James Ellis, Tom Miller, William Steele and Dennis Hetric.

Mr. Hetric was the proprietor of a paint and wallpaper store in Columbiana before World War II, and he served in World War II from 1942 until 1945. After the war, he was well known in Columbiana as a sign painter, house painter, and interior decorator.

His wife, the late Ruth Vollnogle Hetric, died in 1968. His second wife, the late Helen Koch Hetric, died in 2002. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Wilma Steele and a brother, James Hetric.

Mr. Hetric was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Columbiana and the Allen Lodge 267 F.&A.M.

Burial will follow in Columbiana Cemetery.

COLUMBIANA - Virginia Mae "Jinny" Ellis, age 91, of Columbiana, passed away Monday, May 4, 2009, at Parkside Health Care.

She was born July 28, 1917, in Columbiana, Ohio, daughter of the late Jonathan and Orca (Houlette) Vollnogle.

Jinny was a member of Jerusalem Lutheran Church in Columbiana and also at the Redeemer Lutheran Church in Bradenton, Fla. Jinny belonged to the American Legion Post 290 Auxiliary.

Jinny and her husband, John, lived in Palmetto, Fla., from 1980-2001. She loved to fish and play cards.

Survivors include her children, James (Dawn) Ellis and JoAnn Kale, both of Columbiana; grandchildren, Johnny Kale of Columbiana, Tony (Heidi) Ellis of Perrysburg, Tracey Ellis of Salem, and stepgranddaughter, Mrs. Gerald (Dawn Marie) Timmann of Columbiana; also survived by great-grandchildren, Danielle Ellis of Columbiana, Jimmy Ellis of Perrysburg, David Barker of Bucyrus, Rebecca Barker of Columbiana; nieces, Betty Blackburn of California, Amanda Hetric of Connecticut, and nephew ,Deane (Suzanne) Hetric of Connecticut.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Isaac Ellis, whom she married on Aug. 24, 1940; also preceded by her sisters, Ruth Hetric and Harriett Vollnogle; her son-in-law, Richard Kale, and her niece, Patty Held.

Cremation has taken place, and a memorial service will be officiated by the Rev. W. David H. Conrad, 11 a.m. Thursday, May 14, 2009, at the Jerusalem Lutheran Church. Final resting place will be Columbiana Cemetery.

Arrangements are under the direction of Wood-Kortright-Borkoski Funeral Home.

Columbiana January 16, 2004 - Richard Frank Kale, age 65, of 1229 Columbiana-Lisbon Road went peacefully from his residence to be with his Lord at 6:20 a.m. Friday.

He was born June 19, 1938 in Enon Valley PA, son of Byron E. and Gladys Estelle Haskins Kale and had lived in Columbiana for 36 years coming from East Palestine.

He had been a Welder-Assemblyman for the former NRM at Columbiana for 26 years.

He was a member of the Jerusalem Lutheran Church where he served as deacon and trustee; He was a member of the Columbiana Fire Department for many years where he served as 2nd Assistant Chief until he retired due to physical disabilities. He was also a member of the Leetonia Masonic Lodge #401 F&AM.

He served as a staff sergeant in the Army.
