Judy Cofee Manuel, Collingsworth County native and life long resident of the county, died in Wellington Monday, Monday March 1, 2003 at the age of 84. Born September 14, 1918 in Quail, she married Marvin Manuel in 1939 in Collingsworth County. She was a homemaker and a member of the Wellington Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her husband, April 22, 1988 and by a son Jerry Manuel, December 29, 1998.
Survivors include three , sisters, Allie Minyard of Lubbock, Dalla Mae Estes of Irving and Bertha Stiles of Indiana, two grandchildren, Marty Manuel of Lubbock and Casey Jordan of Wichita Falls and two great grandchildren, Zachary Miles Jordan and Zole Madison Jordan of Wichita Falls.
She was buried in March 2003 in North Fairview Cemetery, Wellington, Collingsworth Co., TX, Findagrave #59743055.

WELLINGTON - Jerry Manuel, 57, died Tuesday, Dec. 29, 1998.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Thursday in First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Brian Adams, pastor, and the Rev. Jesse Dea, pastor of First United Methodist Church of Quanah, officiating. Burial will be in North Fairview Cemetery by Adams Funeral Home.
Mr. Manuel was born in Wellington and began school in Quail. He returned to Wellington in 1948 where he graduated from high school in 1959.
In 1963 he married La Quinta Joy Hollingsworth at the First Baptist Church in Wellington.
During the Vietnam War Era, he served in the Army with the military police.
Mr. Manuel received his Bachelor of Science degree from Lubbock Christian College and was a policeman in Lubbock for several years. In 1976 his wife La Quinta Hollingsworth died and he returned to Wellington shortly thereafter where he was employed for 21 years by Greenbelt Electric Co-op as a staking technician. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church.
He married his second wife, Dianna Hitch, in 1978 at Throckmorton and they made their home in Wellington.
He was preceded in death by his first wife La Quinta Hollingsworth Manuel and his Father, Marvin Harrison Manuel.
Survivors include his second wife; a son, Marty Manuel of Lubbock; three daughters, Casey Manuel of Wellington, Debbie Guajardo of Castorville and Leesa McMahon of Warren, Okla.; his mother, Judy Manuel of Wellington; and five grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials be to First United Methodist Church, the American Heart Association or the Cancer Society.

Mrs. Jerry Manuel, the former LaQuinta Joy Hollingsworth, died in Methodist Hospital, Lubbock on Wednesday 14, 1976 after a long illness of about 8 months. Mrs. Manuel was born and grew up in Wellington, graduating from Hight School here. She married Jerry Manuel July 27, 1963. She graduated from Texas Tect University in 1970 with a degree in home economics. For severat years Mrs. Manuel was a probation officer at Lubbock and prior to her death she was associated with LH Drugs. She was a member of the Texas State Teachers Associated and Correctional Officers Association. She belonged to Bellaire Baptist Church of Lubbock. Mrs. Manuel's ties to Wellington were always close and she often renewed many friendships during her visits here . She had attended several of the Ex-Student Association reunions of recent years.
Surviving Mrs. Manuel are her husband, and their three year old son, Marty Lyn of Lubbock, her parents, Mrs. Glady Ring of Lubbock and Sam Hollingsworth of Lubbock and Sam Hollingsworth Jr. of Dallas.
She was buried in July 1976 in North Fairview Cemetery, Wellington, Collingsworth Co., TX, Findagrave #59743116.

He was born May 16, 1925 in Quail to William R. and Vera I. White Coffee. He attended school at Quail and served a short time in the U.S. Navy.
John and Sue Nelson were married February 9, 1947 in Wellington.
He was a farmer and rancher, member of the Church of Christ, charter member of the Wellington Lions Club where he held various offices including Tail Twister, and also a member of the Wellington County Club. He received the Honorary Future Farmer Degree from the FFA, served on the Board of Directors of the Collingsworth County Farm Bureau and was a former Little League coach.
He is survived by his wife, Sue; three daughters and their spouses, Susan and Dee Green of Childress, Linda and Dickie Johnson of Wellington, and Kay and Steve Williams of Waco; one son and daughter-in-law, Samuel John Coffee and Kenda of Pampa; four sisters, Judy Manuel of Wellington, Bertha Stiles of Omaha, NE and Allie Minyard of Lubbock and Della Mae Estes of Irving and nine grandchildren, Matthew and Eric Green, Brandon and Brent Coffee, Lucas, Chelsea and Ethan Johnson and Garrett and Grant Williams.
He was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.
