CRYSTAL LAKE -- Marian A. Ackerman, 88, of Crystal Lake, died Friday, June 13, 1997, at The Fountains at Crystal Lake.
She was born July 18, 1908, in Cleveland, Ohio, to Clare Simon (sic) and Mae (Russell) Wilcox. On May 2, 1931, in Cleveland, she married Arthur J. Ackerman.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Crystal Lake, the P.E.O. Sisterhood, the Crystal Lake Women's Club and the Crystal Lake Park Board.
Survivors include a son, Paul R. (Valerie) Ackerman of White Bear Lake, Minn.; two daughters, Mary Ellen (Peter) Singer of Crystal Lake and Janet R. (William) Nicholson of Waukesha, Wis., nine grandchildren, Jill (Trevor) Saxty of Alameda, Calif., Robert (Karmel) Ackerman of Snohomish, Wash., Marnie (Whit) Jackson of Palo Alto, Calif., Katherine Ackerman of Brooklyn, N.Y., Gretchen (Paul) Schaefer of Crystal Lake; Gail (James) Kelley of Crystal Lake, Peter Singer of Chicago; Julie Nicholson of Waukesha; and Thomas Nicholson of Wauwatosa, Wis.; seven great-grandchildren, Megan and Emily Schaefer, Ryan, Ashley and Kourtni Kelley, Madelaine Ackerman and Isabel Saxty; and a sister, Mrs. Roberta L. Allen of Hendersonville, N.C.
She was preceded in death by her husband on Jan. 7, 1989.
A memorial service will be at 7 p.m. Monday, June 16, at First United Methodist in Crystal Lake, with the Rev. David Eiichelberger officiating.
Memorials may be made in her name to the First United Methodist Church or to the Hospice of Northeastern Illinois, 410 S. Hager Ave., Barrington, Ill, 60010.
Arrangements were made by Querhammer Funeral Home.
