WILLIAM JAMES MITCHELL
Funeral services for William James Mitchell, 81, 2406 Grand Blvd., will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Nelson funeral home.
The Rev. Doyle Hansen will officiate. Burial will be in Greenwood cemetery.
Mr. Mitchell was found dead in his home Sunday morning. He died about 3 a.m. apparently of a heart attack.
He was born in Oyne Aberdenshire (sic), Scotland, on April 21, 1883, the son of William and Anna Mitchell.
He was married to Lillie Marie Douhan on Dec. 23, 1911, in Hudson, Wis. They made their home in Cedar Falls since 1934.
Mr. Mitchell was a retired tailor.
He was a member of the Presbyterian church.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters. Mrs. Bruce (Mona) Place, 1009 W. 3rd St., and Mrs. George (Mavis) Gersema, Rt. 3; one son, William James Mitchell Jr., a professor at Bates College in Lewiston, Me.; five grandchildren and one great grandchild.
He was buried on 2 September 1964 in Greenwood Cemetery, Cedar Falls, Black Hawk Co., IA, per obituary.
