Mr. Smith Was born to the late Byron B. Smith. Sr. and Anna E. Hall Smith. He is also preceded in death by two sisters: Letha Williams and Ann Huggins.
He is survived by his wife: Dorothy O. Smith of Shreveport, La., children: Doug Smith of Houston, Donna Bouldin of Houston, Denise Smith of Campbell, and Dawn Fowble of Del City, Oklahoma. He is survived by numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren and two siblings: F. Farrel Smith of Houston and Mae E. Neisler of Arlington; and first wife Opal Smith of Mena, Arkansas.
He served his country in both the United States Army and Air Force, retired supervisor from Oil Refinery

Edith June Nichols, 86, of Knott, passed away Tuesday, March 17, 2020.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM, Friday, March 20, 2020 at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel with Dr. Stan Blevins officiating. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Thursday, March 19, 2020 at the Funeral home.
She was born September 5, 1933 in Vealmoor to John S. Jackson and Connie Hanks Jackson.
She moved to Socorro, NM as an infant. She moved to various locations before settling in Vealmoor, where they farmed.
She married Robert Nichols, December 31, 1949 in Big Spring.
She was a homemaker and enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and cooking.
She loved attending her children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events, and watching Pro basketball and tennis.
She was an avid domino and card player.
She is survived by her son, Keith Nichols and wife, Gwen of Ackerly; her daughter, Ann Nichols, of Big Spring; her son, Martin Nichols and wife, Lesli of Knott; thirteen grandchildren; twenty six great-grandchildren; and three great-great- grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; son, Bruce Nichols; daughter, Janette Brown; grandson, Austin Nichols; brother, Billy Wayne Jackson; and two sisters, Thelma Williams and Joy Collins Smith.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Beehive Homes for their excellent care.

Robert Nichols, 75, of Knott, died on Monday, December 19, 2005, in a local hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 4:00 PM Thursday, December 22, 2005 at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel with Bro. Clifton Igo, Baptist minister of Lamesa, officiating and Bro. Ray McMorris, pastor of First Baptist Church of Ackerly, assisting. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM – 6:00 PM, Wednesday, at the funeral home.
He was born to J.G. and Lidia Nichols, on February 8, 1930, in Big Spring, Texas and married June Jackson on December 31, 1949 in Big Spring, Texas.
Robert was a lifetime resident of Knott, Texas and graduated from Knott High School in 1947.
He had farmed at Knott since 1947 until retiring in 1990.
He had also worked at Flower Grove Gin for many years.
Robert took pride in his farming.
He was a member of the Farm Bureau and the Farmers' Union of Christian Farmers.
He loved to play dominoes and had won the championship dominoe player at the County Fair one year.
He was a good and loving husband and father.
He was a member of First Baptist Church of Ackerly where he served as church treasurer for many years. He had also belonged to Mt. Joy Baptist Church at Knott.
Survivors include his wife, June Nichols of Knott; three sons and daughters-in-law, Bruce and Terri Nichols of Ackerly, Keith and Gwen Nichols of Lamesa, and Martin and Lesli Nichols of Knott; two daughters, Janette Brown of Ackerly, and Ann Nichols of Midland; one sister, Una Royalty of Columbus, Ohio; fifteen grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren and many cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers and one sister. His sister, Kathleen Cline died on December 21, 2005.
