Obituary -- (Findagrave.com):
Rita Noblin Angel, 85, passed away on Tuesday, December 13, 2016. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She was married to her beloved husband, Rex Angel, for 60 years. Born in Phenix, VA on February 5, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Isaac Richard Noblin and Daisy Seckman Noblin.
In her early adult life, Rita graduated from Phillips Business School and enjoyed her work supporting Dr. Walker Sydnor, DDS. She left a job she loved to follow her calling as a loving wife and mother. She supported her daughters as they pursued horseback riding, dance, piano, gymnastics, violin (to name a few) and was kind and generous to all who entered the family home at 5818 Apache Lane. Some days there were warm cookies waiting for her girls when they got home from school, and her daughters can’t remember how many times they were told, “Your Mom is SO NICE!” She was also a longtime active member of Chestnut Hill Baptist Church, where she enjoyed lifelong friendships and many opportunities to serve the church and community.
In August 2015, Rita moved to Minnesota to live near her daughter Alice and family. Her three Minnesota grandsons will cherish those months when Grandma Angel was nearby.
Rita is survived by three daughters, Elizabeth A. Rexrode of Charlottesville, Alice A. Denney (and husband Joel) of Minneapolis, MN, and Anne A. Smith (and husband Andy) of Lafayette, CO; a brother, Elroy Noblin of Alexandria, VA; and two sisters, Vivian Smith of Richmond, VA and Patricia Souhrada of Farmville, VA; seven grandchildren, Meredith, Nathaniel (and wife Dana) and Lee Rexrode, Joshua, Nathan and Caleb Denney, and Gregory Smith.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m., Tuesday, December 20, 2016, at Chestnut Hill Baptist Church by the Reverend Randy Bower and Reverend Nathaniel Rexrode. The burial will follow at the Spring Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 until 7:30 p.m., Monday, December 19, 2016, at Heritage Funeral Service, 427 Graves Mill Road.
Rita loved Christmas, and she loved every child with all her heart. She packed shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child while living in Virginia, and continued this tradition after moving to Minnesota. In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial contribution to Samaritan’s Purse/Operation Christmas Child, P.O. Box 3000, Boone, NC 28607.
Heritage Funeral Service and Crematory (434) 239-2405 is assisting the family. Memories and thoughts may be shared with the family at www.heritagefuneralandcremation.com.
