Floris H. Marvel (nee Dorton), age 94, of Crown Point, born and raised in Hammond, passed away October 9, 2010. She is survived by her ten children: Carol "Peachie" (Ray) Cataldi, Jackie (late Jerry) Beeson, Janet Whitley, Robert (late Rose) Marvel, Jr., William (Sandy) Marvel, Benny (Martha) Marvel, Marge (Robert) Anderson, Bonnie Stephens, Ruthie (Bruce) Schafer, and Mary Anne Tigner; 37 grandchildren, 60 great grandchildren, and 12 great-great-grandchildren.
Also surviving is her brother Benny Dorton, and sister-in-law Ann Dorton. She was preceded in death by her husband: Robert, three brothers and two sisters.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 13, 2010 at 10:00 AM at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 8178 Cline Ave., Schererville, Indiana, with Michele Tipton, Minister, officiating. Interment at Elmwood Cemetery, Hammond, Indiana.
Floris was a lifelong member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Munster. She was an avid bowler and enjoyed cooking. She was a sports fanatic and loved to play slot machines.

Benjamin R. Dorton, age 87, passed away on Monday, December 17, 2012. He is survived by his loving daughter, Linda S. (James T.) Tate; stepson, David (Angie) Tussey; grandchildren: Tonya (Kent) Howard, Sherry (Tao) Davalos, Russell (Julie) Tussey, David (Laura) Tussey, Dawn (Tim) Morgan, and Robert Tussey; great grandchildren; Rylee Howard, Noah Tussey, Aleena Tussey, Caleb Tussey, Amber Morgan, and Dillon Morgan; step daughter-in-law, Phyllis Tussey; sister-in-law, Dolores Hughes-Rod; uncle to many nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by his stepson Bob Tussey, great grandchild, Jacob Tussey and siblings: Flores Marvel, Donald Dorton, Warren Dorton, Margene DeFries, Maryann Holland, Harry Dorton, and their spouses; and brother-in-law, Jim Rod.
Benjamin proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII and was stationed in Philippines. He was a member of the American Legion Post 168 of Hammond, IN. He enjoyed gardening, bowling, golfing, playing cards, but most of all spending time with his family. He will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 21, 2012, 10:00 a.m. DIRECTLY at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Munster with Pasto Donald Stock officiating. Friends are invited to visit with the family on Thursday, December 20, 2012 at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home (8178 Cline Ave., Schererville, IN from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donation may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church in Munster.

David J. Dorton age 48 life long resident of Hammond, IN passed away peacefully at home on August 29, 2014.
He is survived by his brother, Thomas Dorton and Godmother-Aunt, Frances Brownewell along with many loving cousins.
David was preceded in death by his parents: Harry and Anne Dorton; along with many aunts and uncles.
David graduated from Hammond High School Class of 1984. He was employed by Leisure Time Entertainment as a maintenance mechanic and pool/dart league coordinator and was a member of The Son's of American Legion. David enjoyed shooting darts, watching Nascar and cheering for all Chicago sports teams.
His heart was as big as anybody's that you've ever met and he will be missed dearly.
Friends may visit with the family in celebration of his life, September 8, 2014, 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Burns-Kish Funeral Home 5840 Hohman Ave., Hammond, IN. with a prayer service at 8:00 p.m., Deacon Jim Renwick officiating.
On the following day, Tuesday September 9, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. a small graveside service will be conducted directly at Elmwood Cemetery, Hammond, IN.
