Lorraine D. Garrott passed away at her home in Brookston on Thursday, January 17, 2013. She died as she had lived her life with grace, courage, strength and faith in God. She was a graduate of Indiana University, and though she spent all of her adult life in the heart of Purdue country, she never waivered in her allegiance to her alma mater or to IU basketball.

Mrs. Garrott was blessed to have had two devoted and loving husbands who predeceased her, Glen B. Garrott, "the love of my life", and Herbert E. May, "the icing on my cake". She is survived by daughters, Chris G. Krok, of Indianapolis and Janet (Michael) Grella, of Seattle Wash.; a son, Doug (Barb) Garrott, of Troy, Idaho; and three grandsons, Harry D. Garrott, of Albany, N.Y.; Wade O. Garrott of Burke, Va.; and Gillis G. Garrott currently serving our country in Afghanistan. Other survivors include nieces, nephews, cousins, all of their families, and many, many friends who enriched her life - and of course, her beloved cat, Pansy.

The family appreciates the care and kindness that was provided to Mrs. Garrott during her final illness by Comfort Keepers of Lafayette which enabled her to remain in her home - her most fervent wish.

Friends may call from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, January 20, 2013, at Hartzler-Clapper Funeral Home of Brookston, and also from 12 p.m. (noon) until the time of funeral service at 1 p.m. Monday, January 21, 2013, at Brookston United Methodist Church; the Rev. Tom Watt and the Rev. Dr. Lelan McReynolds officiating; interment to follow at Brookston Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts will be welcomed by Brookston Prairie Township Public Library, 111 W. Second St. in Brookston, IN 47923 or Brookston United Methodist Church, Fourth and Wood Streets, Brookston, IN 47923.
