WADE KING, 69, TAKEN BY DEATH

Wade S. King, 69, a farmer from Union Township, was found dead in his barn, by his wife at 4 p.m. Tuesday.

Dr. Byron F. Voorhees, Hancock County Coroner, said death was due to a heart ailment. He placed the time of death at 2:30 p.m.

For 16 years Mr. King taught in the public schools of Bluffton and Mt. Cory.

He was born July 20, 1889, in Arlington, the son of Dr. C.F. and Minerva (Porter) King. He lived most of his life in Union Township.

He married Mable Wyer, Nov. 28, 1912. She along with two children survive. They are Mrs. Marcella Smith, Santiago (sic), Calif.; and Lt. Col. Norman E. King, who is stationed in Elmdorff (sic) Air Force Base in Anchorage, Alaska. Also surviving are seven grandchildren.

He leaves two brothers and four sisters. They are M.S. King, Findlay, M.D. King, Mt. Cory, Mrs. R. Don Clymer, Findlay, Mrs. Martha Kuebler, Port Clinton, Mrs. E.J. Renninger, Lima, and Mrs. E.J. Watkins, Leipic. Deceased are a sister Miss Bessie King and two brothers, Dr. D.J. King and Dr. A.E. King.

He was a member of the Mt. Cory EUB Church, when funeral services will be held. The Rev. W.D. Ramsey will officiate. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery.

The body is at the Coldren Funeral Home, where friends may call after 7 p.m.

KING, NORMAN ELLIOTT

Oct. 6, 1917 – Apr. 30, 1998

Norman was born of the parents Wade and Mable King and raised on a farm in Northwest Ohio, where he graduated from Mt. Cory High School in 1935. He attended Bowling Green State University, graduating with a degree in education in 1939. He taught high school in his alma mater for one year. Norman then entered the Army/Air Corps and was sent to New York University to study meteorology, earning a graduate degree in June, 1941.

Norman and Marsella began their marriage moving from one air base to another, following Norman’s flight training around the Southern U.S. Once he became qualified as an aviator, he was ordered to Italy, where he flew cargo missions across Europe at the close of WW II. Following the war, Norman returned home, completing the first 12 years of his military service as a weather forecaster, pilot staff weather officer and weather unit commander. During the balance of his 28 year Air Force career, his duties covered all phases of air operations and air transportation. Most notably was his command of the 5039th Air Transport Squadron in Anchorage, Alaska. Norman was awarded various military awards including the Air Medal and Air Force Commendation Medal for his service to his country. His family enjoyed assignments in Hawaii, Alaska and Norway in addition to many in the continental U.S.

Immediately after he retired from the Air Force at Travis, Norman moved to Sacramento and began a new career, working for the State of California. First, he worked in the water resources division, but soon transferred to the computer center where her (sic) progressed quickly to the position of state wide liaison. He held this position until his second retirement in June, 1981. Throughout his career with the state, Norman earned his real estate broker’s license and continued in that field (his third career) until his death.

Norman and his wife, Marsella, were members of the First Covenant Church of Sacramento for 27 years. They recently moved to Turlock where they joined the Turlock Covenant Church.

Norman is survived by his wife, Marsella and four children: Ed of Stockton, Don of Salinas, Dean of Hemet and Nancy of Rocklin. He was also blessed with six grand children and wonderful in-laws.

Memorial Services to be held Thursday, May 14, at the First Covenant Church, 9000 La Riviera Dr., Rancho Cordova at 1:00 p.m.

John was blind from the age of 36, earned a bachelor's degree from San Diego State University, and Master's from California Western University. His published autobiography is titled Cry, Try Again. According to his obituary, he adopted Marcella's four children from her first marriage. DLB 2020.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Marsella Reese King, 96, of Sacramento, and formerly of Mount Cory, died Sunday, May 11, 2014.

She married Norman King, and he preceded her in death. Surviving are three sons, Edward of North Carolina; Don of Salinas, California; and Dean of Hemet, California; and a daughter, Nancy Zappas, Rocklin, California.

A memorial service will be held at a later date in Findlay.
