Noted Outlaw Killed

FORT GIBSON, Aug. 16.--The noted outlaw John Fields attempted to kill Deputy Sheriff Johnson at Braggs and was shot dead by J. Hungeford. The shooting occurred almost on the spot where Fields murdered Red Bird Cherokee, for which he was serving a fifteen-year sentence when he escaped two months ago.

Rites Conducted For Mike Fields

Services for Mike Fields, 72, Little Rock, brother of Mrs. Stella Johnson, west of the city, were conducted Monday in Little Rock, with burial there. A veteran of World War I, he had been ill for the past ten years.

Other survivors are four other sisters, Mrs. Katherine Wilson, and Mrs. Elizabeth Avelyn, both of Kansas City, Mo., Mrs. Amy Edmunds, Tulsa, and Mrs. Elinor McLowd of California.

Bill was the son of Leonard Wayne and Ella Elizabeth (Johnson) Estes. He was reared in Bartlesville, attending the Limestone Elementary School and graduating from College High School with the class of 1961. He then attended Northeastern Oklahoma State College. He was married to Candace Jean "Candy" Flemings on August 29, 1972 and they lived in rural Nowata County for eighteen years before returning to Bartlesville. They were the parents of two sons and two daughters. Bill was a retiree of Reda Pump Company with 43 years of service.

August 4, 1935 - July 29, 2012 GUTHRIE Chad was born on Aug. 4, 1935 in Bartlesville, OK to Chad Sr. and Verona (Englund) Bixler and passed away July 29th at his home. Chad was a graduate of the University of Central Oklahoma and served in the United States Air Force. Chad married the love of his life Phyllis on May 14, 1960 and they enjoyed fifty-two beautiful years together. Chad worked for Dolese Bros. Company for almost 40 years. He is survived by his wife of the home; one son, Chad W. Bixler, III (Karen) of Redington Beach, FL; one daughter, Sheila B. Bixler of Edmond and her son, Jordan. Jordan W.
