Mr. Cecil Roy Burtner

Cecil Roy Burtner, 80, of Marker Rd., Middletown, MD passed away Thursday, November 24, 2011 at Northampton Manor in Frederick.

Born December 21, 1930 he was the son of the late Noah Wyand Burtner and the late Daisy Marker Burtner.

Cecil was a well-known butcher and owned Burtner’s Meats in Middletown, MD for many years. He belonged to the Big Oak Lodge in Myersville and Camp Kanawha in Point of Rocks. He was a prize-winning trap shooter and loved to play all types of card games with family and friends. He enjoyed traveling, hunting, fishing and crabbing. He was well known for his gregarious personality, his sense of humor and his generosity.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Myrlee Dodd Burtner; four children, Charles W. Burtner and wife, Sherry, Teresa Burtner Kachermeyer and husband Don, Brad L. Burtner and wife, Lisa and Mary K. Burtner Lockwood; seven grandchildren, Stephanie Burtner Biser and husband Scott, Jennifer Burtner Biser and husband, Joey, Matt Brunner and fiance, Amie Welch, Dawn Motosicky Moody and husband, Jim, Steven Motosicky and wife, Hallie (sic), Abby Burtner and Molly Burtner; and 14 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by two sisters, Sylvia Burtner Wonner and husband Bob and Velma Burtner Sheppard, a sister-in-law, Marie Dodd Clem; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Frederick County, PO Box 1798, Frederick, MD 21702.

At Cecil’s request, his body has been donated to the Maryland Anatomy Board and there will not be a funeral or viewing. A memorial service is being planned for Saturday May 12, 2012 at 11 a.m. at the Big Oak Lodge at 2308 Station Rd., Middletown, MD.



He was buried in November 2011 in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Frederick, Frederick Co., MD, Findagrave #143812511.

David went to elementary school in Dover, Pa., then and graduated from Dover, Pa., 1971 All of David's life he enjoyed working around his homes, bicycling, tanning and helping others and especially going to the beach and going to the gym. David loved to travel in the USA and Caribbean. He and John had been together for 15 years, they enjoyed taking their annual mid winter cruises along with other cruises in past years. David enjoyed going to festivals in Harrisburg, Pa., Washington, DC, Philadelphia, Pa., Rehobeth Beach, Del., New York, Las Vegas, Indianapolis, Ind. , And Phoenix, Az David worked as a baker all of his life, retiring from Grauls Market, Hereford, Md., He worked at Grauls for over 21 years as a baker and in June 2015, moved to Surprise, Az. Cremation in Surprise, Az.
