BUCKLEY
Melvin Ray, 67, of Choctaw, OK. Born to Floy and Vernie Buckley, Dec. 24, 1929, in Okc. He left to join the Lord, his Savior, May 24, 1997, following a long battle with cancer.
Melvin spent most of his life in Okc. and Choctaw. He attended school at Crooked Oak and Panama, Ok. He served as Corporal in the U.S. Regular Army during the Korean War. He was a hard worker, spending time in the oilfield, at Bekins Van and Storage, and Graves Truck Lines (later ANR Freight). He spent many years working with horses, but the Lord became more important, so he sold them all and spent his time helping others. He touched many people, and especially enjoyed visiting and ministering to patients in Harrah, Southwestern Convalescent, South Park, and Ghana Nursing Homes. He wanted ALL to know the Lord.
His parents and brother, Lloyd, preceded him death. He leaves his beloved wife of 33 years, Roberta Ann, of Choctaw; daughters Janet & Rick Tobiason of Mustang, Terri & Mike Ogden of Ardmore, Cathie Ann & Jim Wells of Enid, and Loretta Lathrop of Okc; son, Robert Buckley of Okc & Earl Sapp of Tulsa; a step-brother, Jack Sawyer & wife Carolyn of Holdenville; a sister-in-law, Virginia Buckley of Okc; 16 grandchildren, 1 great0grandchild, and an enormous number of friends which are all part of his family.
Donations in lieu of flowers may be sent to: Peniel Church, 1401 S. Irving, Okc, or Okla. Chapeter-Cancer Research.
Services 10:00 a.m., Tues., Bill Eisenhour N.E. Chapel.
