Julia Emma Hendrix Rogers
TERRE HAUTE- Julia Emma Hendrix Rogers, 88, of Terre Haute, and formerly of Fontanet, passed away on Feb. 5,2014, at 11:25 a.m, in Meadows Manor North in Terre Haute. She was born on April 19, 1925, in Vigo County, to Virgil Lemmons and Myrtle Wood Lemmons. She had been a supervisor with the Glas-Col Apparatus Company. She was a member of the Eastern Star in Rosedale and the Rosedale American Legion Auxiliary.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Donald Hendrix; her second husband, James Rogers; two brothers, Freeman Lemmons and Raymond Lemmons; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Paul and Joan Hendrix; brother-in-law, Jim Hendrix; and a sister-in-law, Margaret Tilford.
She is survived by her children, Rita Hendrix of Terre Haute, Dennis (Barbara) Hendrix of Fontanet, and Donna (Ron) Wilkinson of Fontanet; two stepdaughters, Ruth (Jack) Schroeder of Terre Haute and Jane (Gary) Williams of Bridgeton; one sister, Verna Fredricks of Terre Haute; and a brother, Rene (Pauline) Lemmons of Fontanet; a sister-in-law, Judy Lemmons of Fontanet; two brothers-in-law, Rex (Anita) Hendrix of Fontanet and Ray Rogers; seven grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, Feb. 8,2014, from noon to 2 p.m, at Brown-Mack Funeral Home in Montezuma. Service will be held at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Bill Herb officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery.

Donna was born October 22, 1951 in Terre Haute to Donald Hendrix and Julia Lemmons Hendrix Rogers.
Donna was a receptionist in Dr. Smudde’s dentist office for many years.
She loved her kids and grandkids. She loved to travel, especially to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina to see the ocean.
Donna was preceded in death by her parents; and her step father, James Rogers.
She is survived by her husband, Ron Wilkinson; her son, Ryan Wilkinson; her stepsons, Jeff Wilkinson and his wife, Kara, Kent Wilkinson and his wife, Melissa and Kurt Wilkinson, all of Terre Haute; her daughter, Yvonne Little, of Terre Haute. She is also survived by her brother, Dennis Hendrix and his wife, Barbara of Fontanet; and her sister, Rita Hendrix of Terre Haute; special uncle, Rex Hendrix and his wife, Anita; eleven grandchildren, two great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be Friday, October 16, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at Greiner Funeral Home, 2005 North 13th Street, Terre Haute, Indiana with visitation from 10:00 a.m. until service time. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park.

David L. Short
INDIANAPOLIS-- David Leo Short, 96, was born in Hillsdale, IN, and died November13, 2020. David is predeceased by his parents, Strauder and Bessie Keene Short and sisters and brother Frances, Daniel and Eleanor. From his childhood home near the banks of the Wabash, he learned the value of education and to fish, garden and enjoy sports. He served in the US Army in the Korean War and attended Indiana Central College (UIndy) School of Business.
David met Catherine Hoehl at an Army dance near her home in Baltimore, MD and they married in 1951. David’s career with Huber Hunt & Nichols (Hunt Construction) spanned almost 40 years. His pride was Hunt’s national Industry leadership. Upon retirement, he worked part time at H&R Block until his 83rd birthday.
David’s life of volunteer service was for his children and their Catholic grade school, high schools and universities including Holy Name, Cathedral, St. Agnes, Our Lady of Grace, Notre Dame, Xavier, John Carroll and Dayton.
He tried to teach his children (more successfully his grandchildren) gardening, fishing, bird-watching and black-jack. He taught his family body surfing on the beaches of Maryland and New Jersey and crabbing on the Chesapeake Bay. He loved reading, cross-words and card games and his iPad, iPhone and sports teams Cubs, ND, Colts and Pacers. And Shapiro’s.
David’s wife of almost 69 years, Catherine, survives with their children John, Peg Duncan (John Bisbikis), Kathleen, Dan and Patty (Thom Ebner). Pop Pop is survived by ten grandchildren, Colleen (Brandon), Johnny (Maura), Ellen (Sam), James (Rocio), Emily (Brendon), AJ, David (Katy), Tim (Heather, Maggie and Danny. And nine great grandchildren. He attended their births, baptisms, graduations, sports, poetry readings, plays, concerts and weddings throughout the USA.
David’s family thanks Dr. Pat Enright, Franciscan Health, the staff of St. Paul Hermitage and family caregivers along with a band of priests, nuns and friends joining the family in prayer.
A private family funeral Mass with be held at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church. Gifts to St. Paul Hermitage welcome. 501 N. 17th Avenue, Beech Grove, IN 46107.
He was buried in November 2020 in Calvary Cemetery, Indianapolis, Marion Co., IN, Findagrave #244933594.
