fireman first class is now stationed at Norfolk, Va. for further training.
Following his completion of the course at Ames. Fireman Adams spent a short leave here with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. H. Adams. His wife, the former Miss Pauline Middleton, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. M. W. Middleton, is remaining here while he is at Norfolk. Mrs. Adams has been with her husband for the past several months and their daughter, Nancy Kay, 3 years, and Claudia Sue, seven months old , have been staying here with their grandparents. Fireman Adams, who has been in the navy six months, will take an eight-week course at Norfolk. He took his boot training at Farragut. Before going into the service, the Holdenville high school graduate was employed as a mechanic for the Greyhound bus line in Kansas City, Mo.

Charles F. Adams, 76, of Mt. Victory, a retired railroad employe died at the home of his daughter Mrs. Floyd Sears of Peoria at 9 p.m. Sunday. He was born Oct. 7, 1874 the son of Abner and Hannah Burton Adams, both deceased and was married Aug. 13, 1899 to Anna Wendell who survives.
Also surviving are two daughters Mrs. Floyd Sears, Peoria and Mrs. Marie Organ of Piqua, two sisters Mrs. Bess Driscoll of Orient, and Mrs. Effie Lee of St. Cloud, Fla.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday the the Sears residence conducted by Rev. Claude Forsythe. Interment will be in Oakdale cemetery in charge of Willard Winter, funeral director of Raymond. Friends may call at the residence after 6 p.m. this evening.

Mr. Adams was born June 27, 1922, at Marshall, Mo., the son of Howard Weldon and Tabitha Bell Hudson Adams. Chet was a retired painter. He was raised in the Fort Scott area and attended Fort Scott schools. He lived in California prior to moving to Pittsburg in 1974. He was an avid fisherman. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Navy. He married Eunice I. Emery on July 21, 1940, at Oakland, California. Mrs. Adams preceded him in death Sept. 26, 2010.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, June 3, 2013, at the Rosebank Cemetery at Mulberry with Merle Lair officiating. Friends may call from noon to 2 p.m. Sunday at the Bedene Funeral Home, 517 E. Washington, Box 621, Arma, KS 66712.

Claude Ernest Adams

Claude Ernest Adams married Vinnie Maude Winterstein, daughter of Philip Winterstein and Sarah Ellen Gambrel, on 19 October 1902 at Blockhouse, Klickitat Co., WA. RITES HELD FOR CLAUDE E. ADAMS

Claude Ernest Adams, son of a Baptist minister, the Rev. J. Edward Adams and Katherine Adams, was born February 21, 1881, at Pine Forest district near Goldendale. He spent his boyhood and received his schooling in the vicinity of Pine Forest and Spring Creek. About 1922 he came to Klickitat to work for Holmes, later the J. Neils Lumber company, until his retirement.

At Blockhouse he met and married Vinnie Maude Winterstein, October 19, 1920. To this union were born two sons, Ray Alfred of Klickitat, Guy Lawrence, who was killed in a plane crash in September 1955, and a daughter, Willma Maude of Klickitat.

After an illness of one week, he passed away on March 16, 1961, in Goldendale in Klickitat Valley hospital at the age of 80 years and 21 days.

Left to mourn his passing are his wife, Vinnie Maude Adams, one son, Ray Alfred, and his daughter, Mrs. James F. Gallagher, all of Klickitat; one brother, Chris Adams of Spring Creek; three grandchildren, Mrs. Arthur W. Bleiler of Newport, Ore., George Adams of Jackson, Calif., and Mrs. Bud Osborne of Glendora, Calif; seven great grandchildren, and a host of friends.

Funeral services were held at the Phillips Funeral Home in Goldendale on Sunday, March 19, at 2 p.m., with Rev. Theodore Williams officiating.

Pallbearers were Raymond Shurtz, John Roberts, Harry Nelson, Martin Rogholt, George Scofield and Ray England.

He was buried in March 1961 at Spring Creek Cemetery, Goldendale, Klickitat Co., WA.
