Vivian was the oldest of four children born to Robert and Mary Miller Garber. She grew up on a wheat farm and on many occasions cooked for the threshing crews as a young woman. She attended a one-room school house but then went on to graduate as Valedictorian of Latah High School in 1931. She was a 1933 graduate of Eastern Washington State University. On August 4, 1934, Vivian married Elmer Doty of Latah. She taught school for several years in Rosalia, Washington. In 1947 the Dotys founded Artcraft/Hallmark stores of Seattle and Everett, Washington. Vivian continued to teach in the Edmonds School District for 25 years. After retirement, the Dotys travels extensively, including Europe, Asia, and the Middle East. They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in 1994. The Dotys were charter members of Edmonds Christian Church ( Disciples). Vivian died due to complications of Alzheimers and failing health. She was predeceased by her husband, two sisters,and her brother. She was survived by her four children and their spouses, 12 grandchildren, at least 11 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

A friend of Phil's noticed that he was not back. And went to the Hospital to look for him. Phil was not there. Phil's friend asked where Phil was and they told him everyone was back from the mission. His friend waited until dark and went to look for Phil. He looked for a long time, then found Phil. He was hunt bad. Phil's friend carried him back to the Hospital. The Doctor said that Phil was lucky to be alive that if he stayed out there for a couple more hours he would have died. Phil was laying out in the field for over 16 hours. After Phil was released from the Hospital. And as he was being driven away the Hospital was bombed. After the War Phil was a Box Fighter, in 1919. After Phil stopped from fighting, he became a Box Fighting Manager. Phil Managed Joey Lopes. The Mafia came to Phil and told him to sign Joey over to them, Phil said no. The Mafia said that if he didn't they would kill his family. Phil then signed Joey over to the Mafia. Phil is in the Boxing Hall of Fame in Sacramento, California.

He was a captain in the Army medical corps during World War II. He was a member of Phi Rho Sigma Fraternity, Venice Gondolier Barbershop Chorus and the Venice Yacht Club. He was a member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church.
Survivors include his wife, Charma; a daughter, Patricia Baloun of Cincinnati; three sons, William of Lake Clarke Shores, Michael of Lawrenceburg, Ind., and Frederick of Cincinnati; a sister, Mary Fontaine of Venice; and four grandchildren.
The service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mark's Episcopal Church. National Cremation Society, Sarasota chapter, is in charge.
