Battle of Sons' Keeps Mimlitz Clan Neutral

Emotions were mixed last night for Mr. and Mrs. Edward Mimlitz when they attended the high school basketball game between Mercy and CBC.
The reason -- their oldest son, Jack, coached the Mercy team and their other son, Joe, played on the CBC team.

"We're going to sit in the middle of the floor," said Mr. Mimlitz before the game. "Then we won't show any partiality.:

Jack, 22, assumed the head coaching reins last September after starting for CBC under it's coach, D. C. Wilcutt, and at St. Louis U. Brother Joe is a sophomore on the current team.

"We've never experienced anything like this before," said Mrs. Mimlitz before the game. "It means so much to both boys."

"I'll be glad when it is over," she said.

The team could meet two more times this season. Both are in the Normandy Christmas tournament and they are in the same regional bracket next March for the State eliminations.

The parents follow every game and even drove to Cape Girardeau two weeks ago, but missed the CBC game there because of a snowstorm.

Adaline B. Gorsline1

F, b. January 1836, d. after 5 January 1920
Adaline B. Gorsline was also known as Ada. Numerous online genealogies show her as Ada Griffin. This misunderstanding may have arisen due to the badly overmarked surname of John Gorsline on the 1850 census, Herkimer County, NY. In 1920, she was listed as "Sister", living with her brother, William Gorsline, in Herkimer County. Working backwards through the censuses and following William, it is clear that she was the Adaline, age 14, daughter of John and Asenath Gorsline, listed in the family in 1850. DAR records for other descendants of John Gorsline document his wife as Asenath Pratt, and the marriage date of 1826.2

She was born in January 1836 at New York.3,1 She was the daughter of John Gorsline and Asenath Pratt.3 Adaline B. Gorsline married Peter Clippinger, son of Johann Henry Clippinger and Elizabeth Kuntz, circa 1857. 1900 census shows 56 years married, but I believe this was the time from Peter's first marriage to Elizabeth Cope, not the marriage with Ada Gorsline. DLB 2014. Four chilcren born to this marriage, two living as of the 1900 census.1

Adaline B. Gorsline died after 5 January 1920.
