Leona Bollinger, 93, dies Wednesday; services Friday

Leona Bollinger, 93, Oblong, died at Newton Rest Haven Wednesday afternoon. She was the daughter of the late Samuel and Julia McClane Akeman and was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin, in 1952.
She is survived by a daughter-in-law, Ruby Bollinger, Olney.
Funeral services will be Friday, 10 a.m., at First Christian church, Oblong, with burial in Oblong Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

     Samuel D. Akeman was born in March 1861 at Hopewell, Muskingum Co., OH.² He was the son of Augustus Akeman and Eliza J. Culp. Samuel D. Akeman married Julia Ella McClain, daughter of William McLain and Sophia Bline, on 2 September 1880 at Crawford Co., IL.¹ Samuel D. Akeman died on 11 May 1949 at age 88.      William Forrest Akemon was born on 28 December 1921 at McDowell Co., WV.¹ He married Lorene Vaughn in 1950 at McDowell Co., WV. William Forrest Akemon died on 9 November 1971 at Dayton, Montgomery Co., OH, at age 49.

     Elizabeth Mariah Akerd was born on 12 November 1771. She married David Bushong, son of Hans Philip Bushong and Anna Eva Hergard. Elizabeth Mariah Akerd died on 12 October 1845 at age 73.

     Anna Martha Akers was born on 28 March 1853 at Clark Co. (probably), OH; daughter of Gideon and Emily (Thompson) Akers.¹ She married William H. Clippinger, son of Joseph Anthony Clippinger and Sarah A. Bowen, on 3 July 1870 at Clark Co., OH. Anna Martha Akers died on 23 March 1927 at New Carlisle, Clark Co., OH, at age 73.

     Frances Winnie Akers was also known as "Fannie". She was born on 22 August 1885 at Lawrence Co., IL. She married Robert Glenn Thomas. Frances Winnie Akers died on 3 April 1948 at Fresno Co., CA, at age 62.

     Lurinda Akers was also known as "Linda".¹ She was born in May 1876 at Floyd Co., VA.¹ She married Anthony Wayne Allison circa 1894.¹ Lurinda Akers died in 1960 at Wythe Co., VA.

     Jessie Akins was born circa 1900 at Arkansas.¹ She married Herman W. Neiman circa 1916.¹

Services for Gene Carroll "Bob" Akins, 68, Garnett, will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home, Lawrence. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.
Mr. Akins died Monday, Aug. 12, 1996, at Garnett Hospital.
He was born June 3, 1928, in Humansville, Mo., the son of Curtney Leslie and Harriet Ann Sayre Akins.
He grew up in and attended schools in Humansville, Mo. He was a sheet metal worker.
Mr. Akins moved to Lawrence in 1960 from Kansas City, Mo., and worked for Norris Brothers Plumbing then for Rhodes Heating and Air Conditioning, retiring in 1987. He moved to Garnett in March 1988 from Lawrence. He was a handyman and loved children.
He married Marsha Kay Ward on Dec. 30, 1985. She survives of the home. Other survivors include a son, Steven Akins, Stover, Mo; five daughters, Carol McGrew, Clarks Hill, S.C., Linda Haddad, Tustin, Calif., JoAnn Spicer, Kansas City, Mo; Jacklyn Mayhew, Stover, Mo., and Chris Hobbs, Lawrence; two brothers, William R., Akins, Ventura, Calif., and George Akins, Oxnard, Calif; 10 grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Robin Kathleen Akins, in July of 1962 and a son, William Akins, in 1987.
Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Thursday and until the 2 p.m. services Friday at the Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday.

     Mary Alascia was born on 3 July 1910 at Baltimore, MD. She married Hon. Pelham St. George Bissell, son of Hon. Pelham St. George Bissell and Mary Valentine Yale, on 24 December 1934. Mary Alascia died on 23 October 1986 at Baltimore, MD, at age 76.

     Catherine Albaugh married Jacob Stoner, son of David Stoner and Elizabeth Stover, circa 1804.

     Hannah Albaugh was born on 1 January 1782 at Maryland.¹ She was the daughter of Zachariah Albaugh and Susanna (?)¹ Hannah Albaugh married Samuel Stoner, son of Jacob Steiner and Magdalena (?), circa 1802.¹ Hannah Albaugh died on 8 July 1857 at Timberville, Rockingham Co., VA, at age 75 Obituary (findagrave.com):

     Zachariah Albaugh married Susanna (?).¹

     Amy Olive Albea was born in October 1888 at Hancock Co. (probably), IN. She was the daughter of Thomas Albea and Mary A. Trees. Amy Olive Albea married Lawrence B. Reger, son of Sigal Reger and Ida B. Jarrett, on 6 October 1906.

     Thomas Albea was born in October 1866 at North Carolina. He married Mary A. Trees, daughter of Rachel (?), on 20 January 1887 at Hancock Co., IN.

     C. F. P. Gerhard Albers was also known as "Fred". He was born at Alsace-Lorraine location per Rosetta's listing on the 1920 census. He married Julia E. Lawrence on 5 December 1883 at Moberly, Randolph Co., MO, Julia remarried to Charles Louis Butler (1861 - 1936) on 5 OCT 1908, at Moberly. C. F. P. Gerhard Albers died before 2 June 1900.

     Rosetta A. Albers was also known as "Rose".¹ She was born on 27 August 1888 at Moberly, Randolph Co., MO.¹ She was the daughter of C. F. P. Gerhard Albers and Julia E. Lawrence.² Rosetta A. Albers married Ira Delbert Larimore, son of George P. Larimore and Virginia Frances Stanley. Rosetta A. Albers died on 23 August 1944 at Moberly, Randolph Co., MO, at age 55. She was buried in August 1944 at Oakland Cemetery, Moberly, Randolph Co., MO, Findagrave #187034674. Rose shares a headstone with her mother in-law, Virginia (Stanley) Larimore.

     Albers married Dale K. Lingenfelter, son of George Washington Lingenfelter and Elsie L. Koester. Albers was born in 1921.

     Andrew Frank Albert was born on 31 July 1880 at Indiana WW I draft registration.¹ He married Adah Kistler on 21 June 1905 at Logansport, Cass Co., IN, Adah and Andrew had sons Marion and William Eugene Albert before they divorced. Andrew Frank Albert lived between 1917 and 1918 at 4441 La Crosse Avenue, Chicago, Cook Co., IL, WW I draft registration. He and Adah Kistler were divorced after January 1920.      Anna Albert was born on 15 October 1882 at Püttlingen, Germany. She married Wilhelm Munzinger, son of Jakob Munzinger and Karoline Metzger, on 16 May 1906 at Neunkirchen, Saarland, Germany. Anna Albert died on 30 October 1949 at Niedermiesau, Rhein-Pfalz, Germany, at age 67.
