Phylbert Elaine Johnson, 86, of Lincoln, formerly of Sargent, died Sunday, Nov. 13, 2011, at the South Lake Village in Lincoln. Phylbert was born Feb. 19, 1925, at Westerville to Albert and Ruby "Olive" (Ducker) Hallman.

Phylbert was preceded in death by her husband, Earl S. Johnson, in 1986.

Survivors are: daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara and Frank Szmajda of Lincoln and Brenda and Marlin Svatos of Cascade, Colo; sons and daughters-in-law, Donald and Jonie Johnson of Grant and David and Debra Johnson of Superior; eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; brothers, Ronald Hallman of Elyria, Kan., and Barney and Marcia Hallman of Shasta, Calif; sister, Carolyn and Kirby Fisher of Park Hills, Okla; sisters-in-laws, Mary Poland of Sargent and Bernice Partridge of Grand Island; and a host of relatives and friends.

Phylbert grew up in Ansley, where she graduated from high school in 1942. She attended Kearney State Teachers College for two years and received her teaching certificate, she also received her Bachelors Degree from The University of Nebraska at Kearney, in 1971. She taught kindergarten and first grade at Westerville, Oconto, Elsie and Sargent Public Schools in Nebraska. She was united in marriage to Earl S. Johnson on May 20, 1947, at Broken Bow. To this union four children were born, Barbara, Donald, David and Brenda. She made three major investments in life, the first being her faith in Jesus Christ which she expressed through her active involvement in the Evangelical United Brethren Church of Oconto and the United Methodist Church of Elsie and of Sargent. And in her later years, she became an active prayer warrior as she would intercede for her family, friends and nation. Her second major investment was her family, she dearly loved her husband, she spent hours investing herself in raising her children and attending their activities, she was proud of all of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and loved nothing more that being together with the extended Hallman and Johnson families. The other major investment in her life was her dedication to public education she fully enjoyed her camaraderie with her fellow teachers and strived to see her students learn.

Phylbert was also preceded in death by her parents, brother, Larry and sisters, Shirley and Alberta.

Interment was in the Mt. Hope Cemetery, Sargent, NE.

Raymond Edward Hallman and Barbara Mellquist were divorced before July 1951. Raymond Edward Hallman died on 19 May 2004 at age 80.

     Otie Hallmark was born on 20 May 1901. She married Leslie Herald Owen, son of Decatur Ford Owen and Elvira Virginia Windle, in 1929 at Phoenix, Maricopa Co., AZ. Otie Hallmark died on 9 October 1936 at Phoenix, Maricopa Co., AZ, at age 35.

     Alice Bonnelle Hallock was born on 30 June 1923 at Leavenworth, Chelan Co., WA.¹ She was the daughter of Calvin LeRoy Hallock and Katherine Mildred Pobst. Alice Bonnelle Hallock married (?) Costello. Alice Bonnelle Hallock died on 6 November 1995 at Seattle, King Co., WA, at age 72.

     Calvin LeRoy Hallock was born on 30 January 1899 at Haddam, Washington Co., KS.¹ He was the son of Calvin Youngs Hallock and Ida May Richards.¹ Calvin LeRoy Hallock married Katherine Mildred Pobst, daughter of Rev. Frank Edward Pobst and Maude Estelle Harshberger, on 11 June 1920, Ceremony by Rev. Sykes of Calgary, Alberta, Canada.¹ Calvin LeRoy Hallock lived in 1926 at 808 Pine Street, Leavenworth, Chelan Co., WA.¹ He lived on 3 April 1930 at Plain Precinct, Chelan Co., WA, farming.² He died on 1 February 1967 at Hemet, Riverside Co., CA, at age 68.      Calvin Youngs Hallock was born in 1844. He began military service Civil War service, 38th Wisconsin Infantry. He married Ida May Richards.¹ Calvin Youngs Hallock died in 1926.

     Olive Estelle Hallock was born on 25 June 1921.¹ She was the daughter of Calvin LeRoy Hallock and Katherine Mildred Pobst.¹ Olive Estelle Hallock died on 1 July 1921.¹

     Rebecca Hallowell was born on 15 March 1830 at Chester Co., PA. She married Jeremiah Starr, son of Jeremiah Starr and Mary Thompson, on 22 November 1855 at Lancaster Co., PA.

     George Matthew Halstead was born on 22 June 1899 at Chicago, Cook Co., IL. He was the son of Laban Halstead and Catherine Copithorne. George Matthew Halstead married May Kitzmiller, daughter of Resin Franklin Lee Kitzmiller and Lavina Greenwood, on 20 June 1930 at Chicago, Cook Co., IL, George was first married to Edith May Dunn in 1919. They had a son, Clifford Matthew Halstead. George and Edith divorced before 1930. After May (Kitzmiller) Roemer-Halstead's death, George married Marie Catherine (Walton) Drummond.

She was born in Lawton and graduated from Lawton High School in 1927 and Western Michigan with a teaching certificate in 1929. In Goshen, Ind., she married Eugene Heeter, Holland High School director of instrumental music and founder of the Tulip Time band review.

She was preceded in death her husband, Eugene, in 1986.

She is survived by sons, Steven and Gail Heeter of Battle Creek, Douglas and Patricia Heeter of Big Rapids, Mark and Susan Heeter of Dublin, Ohio; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Cremation has taken place.

Burial will be Oak Grove Cemetery, Lawton.
