Betty Louise was joyfully welcomed into the world on May 15, 1941 by Cora and Carl Jessen of Clinton, Iowa. She married Donald Petersen and together they had 4 children; Virginia Petersen (Charles), Carlena Minor (James), Tom Petersen (Tammy) and Barbara Chermak (John). They divorced and she married Dale Johnston on June 28, 1985. They traveled the world together and had many exciting and unique adventures. Betty loved nature, had a remarkable zest for life and a continuing love of learning new things. She was, among many other things, an accomplished gardener and an award winning photographer.
Betty was gently called home to be with our Lord on January 31, 2010. She was preceded in death by her husband, infant sister, brother and parents. She will always be missed by those who had the good fortune to know her. Memorial Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, February 5, 2010, at the Knox Presbyterian Church in Cedar Rapids. Memorial donations can be made in her memory to Wickiup Hill Outdoor Learning Center.

Sarah Jessup married Temple Windle, son of Jacob Wendel and Elizabeth Barbara Pfeiffer, on 23 January 1848 at Macon Co., MO, The original marriage record has a severe smudge over the month, and an apparent error on the year written. Tails on the letters of the month suggest "January", and the context of the entry and the recorder's date of certification of 1 FEB 1848 all support a January, 1848 marriage date.

Sarah Jessup died on 24 October 1902 at Macon Co., MO, at age 91 Living with son Martin in 1880 census. She was buried in October 1902 at White Oak Cemetery, Macon Co., MO.
