WALKER -- The wedding ceremony for Miss Verna Mae Hepker and John C. Johnson will be read this afternoon at 4:30 o'clock in the Little Brown church at Nashua by the Rev. F. L. Hanscom. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles W. Hepker of Walker. Mr. Johnson is the son of Mr. and Mrs. R. J. Johnson of Brandon.

The bride will wear a white sharkskin ensemble fashioned with a peplum and cap sleeves trimmed in lace. Her bouquet will be of white carnations.

Mrs. Clarence Brock, matron of honor, chose a teal-blue outfit with which she will carry a bouquet of pink carnations. Harry Johnson will be best man. The rings will be carried by Marlys Brock.

After a wedding trip the couple will make their home near Brandon.

     Maxwell Franklin Hepner was born on 4 October 1912 at Missal, Livingston Co., IL. He married Audrey Mae Reynolds, daughter of Clyde Ellsworth Reynolds and Lulu Minerva Brown. Maxwell Franklin Hepner died on 26 November 1997 at Weslaco, Hidalgo Co., TX, at age 85. He was buried in November 1997 at Phillips Cemetery, Newtown Twp., Livingston Co., IL, Findagrave #153119488.

     Anna Heppenhauer was born in 1890. She was the daughter of Isaac Heppenhauer and Jennie Coke. Anna Heppenhauer married John F. Hopkins, son of James Hopkins and Rhoda Ellen Wendell, on 30 December 1922. Anna Heppenhauer died on 10 May 1947.

     Isaac Heppenhauer married Jennie Coke.

KATE L. HENDRICKS wife of Lewis C. Hendricks, died at her residence near this place on Wednesday morning, at 7:30 o'clock, of cancer of the stomach. She had been sick about two years, and although hopelessly ill, she waited with patience and fortitude the inevitable results. Mrs. Hendricks, whose maiden name was Herold, was born in New York state about 45 years ago. Came here with her parents in 1857, and was married to Mr. Hendricks in 1863. She united with the M. E. church a number of years ago and lived an exemplary christian life, beloved by a large circle of friends. She leaves a husband and four children to mourn a loss irreparable. The funeral was held on Thursday afternoon, Rev. Satterfield of Franklin Grove, officiating, and neighbors and friends in large numbers were present to pay a last tribute of respect to her memory. The warm sympathy of the community is extended the sorrowing family in their affliction.

Agatha Herbert married Johann Christoph Klöppinger, son of Johan Klöppinger and Appollonia Wambold, on 3 January 1702 at Evangelische Kirche, Pfungstadt, Hessen Darmstadt, Germany. Agatha Herbert died in 1758.

     Amos McBride Herbert was born on 13 January 1840 at Fulton Co., IL.¹ He was the son of Joshua Herbert and Elizabeth Smith. Amos McBride Herbert married Nancy Elizabeth Manning on 13 April 1873 at Lane Co., OR.¹ Amos McBride Herbert died on 25 April 1915 at Lane Co., OR, at age 75.

     Hermes Herbert married Hester Myrtle Wolford, daughter of Frank Leslie Martin Wolford and Laura May Green, circa 1980. Hermes Herbert and Hester Myrtle Wolford were divorced circa 1982. Hermes Herbert died on 4 February 1988.

     Capt. Hershel Frederick Herbert Jr. was born on 8 October 1924 at Ft. Worth, Tarrant Co., TX. He married Betty Ruth Tallmon, daughter of Albert Marvin Tallmon and Ruth Magee. Capt. Hershel Frederick Herbert Jr. died on 19 January 1953 at North Korea at age 28

Hershel was living in Ft Worth, TX when he entered the service and was the pilot of a F9F-4 Grumman Panther fighter with Marine Fighter Squadron 115, Marine Air Group 33, 1st Marine Air Wing.

On January 19, 1953, while on a combat mission, his aircraft received a direct hit by anti-aircraft fire, lost its right wing and crashed.

He was listed as Missing in Action and was presumed dead on January 21, 1954. His remains were never recovered.

His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.

Captain Herbert was awarded the Air Medal with 3 Gold Stars, the Purple Heart, the Combat Action Ribbon, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Presidential Unit Citation and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal.

He was buried at Honolulu Memorial, Honolulu, Honolulu Co., HI, Findagrave #98811939.

William Franklin (Frank) Herbert, age 90, of Austin, passed away Saturday, May 21, 2005. He was born April 24, 1914, in Williamsport, Maryland, the son of B.F. and Anna Herbert.

He served four years in the Army during World War II and received six battle stars for participation in the North African and Italian battles. Upon the war's end, he went to work with the Veterans Administration in Washington, D.C. He was transferred to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1960, to pioneer in the computer application of Veteran's records. Frank was then transferred to Austin, Texas in 1966, prior to the opening of the VA computer center.

He became a member of the Hill City Masonic Lodge, the Scottish Rite Bodies and the Ben Hur Shrine Temple. Frank was an avid golfer and was proud of the fact he often scored better than his age. He also liked to tell stories and shared his humor with all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Herbert in September 3, 2003; his parents, and two brothers, Fred and Ralph.

Memorial services will be held at 2:30 p.m., Thursday, June 9, 2005 at First United Methodist Church, 1201 Lavaca St., Austin, Texas 78701.

He was buried in 2005 at Houston National Cemetery, Houston, Harris Co., TX, Findagrave #11092074.
