William Dennis Hewitt, 84, of Cockeysville, MD passed away on April 1, 2020 at the Gilchrist Center for Hospice Care in Towson, MD. Born December 11, 1935 in Portsmouth, VA, he was the son of the late Kenneth and Virginia (Venice) Hewitt and the devoted husband of Jacqueline Hewitt.
Bill served his country honorably in the United States Navy. He worked as an Electrical Engineer at Westinghouse as well as other Government Contractors over the years. He was a dedicated volunteer on the John W. Brown Liberty Ship. He spent countless hours working onboard and at home keeping one of only two existing WW II Cargo Ships in good repair. Bill had a great love of animals and over the years brought many rescued birds and dogs into his home. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Bill is survived by his loving wife Jacqueline Hewitt; son, Michael Hewitt; daughter, Susan Hewitt; three grandchildren: Evan Hewitt, Cody Brown, and Shaun Brown; brother, Don Hewitt and twin sister, Dorothy Morse.
Due to the current health crisis, a Celebration of Life Service will be held aboard the John W. Brown Liberty Ship at a later date. Due notice will be given. (Worldwide coronavirus; AKA: COVID-19)
