Lola Ada Hershey married Leland Lewis Shaw, son of Franklin Benjamin Shaw and Eva Jane Hard. Lola Ada Hershey lived on 3 January 1920 at Sandpoint, Bonner Co., ID, married, living with Leland and the two children. This is the last date that Leland and Lola are found living together -- the marriage apparently broke up sometime after this date. Neither of them were found in the 1930 census -- Lola was listed in the 1938 Spokane city directory, apparently single and supporting herself. She is listed as divorced on the 1940 census.² She and Leland Lewis Shaw were divorced on 24 March 1927 at Spokane Co., WA;

Chiropractor made Up to $100 in Day When He Took More Interest In Work

Dr. Leland Shaw of Hillyard, who slapped his wife when she refused to bring home the family goat, was divorced yesterday.

Dr. and Mrs. Shaw own considerable property. Mrs. Shaw said her husband made as high as $100 a day some three years ago. "when he was taking more interest in his work as a chiropractor." They have some silver foxes at their home in Morgan Acre tracts. They also own Sandpoint and Hillyard real estate. Mrs. Shaw testified she has been caring for the five foxes.

"For the last three years we have had trouble and my husband has struck me, testified Mrs. Shaw. "He would use abusive language and come home as late as 2 or 3 o'clock in the morning.

"When he came home late I asked him what he was doing and he said that he was out to see a lady love. He told me I should not object as long as he gave me something to eat. My husband objected to my lady friends and told me not to see Mrs. Walter Case. She was a good friend of mine."

Attorney Edward Connelly asked Mrs. Shaw if she objected to caring for the valuable foxes, one pair of which cost them $1800. She said she cooked for them and cared for them without protest.
     
"He told me that if I would take the two children and go he would be happy," Testified Mrs. Shaw.

Mrs. Shaw then told of the controversy over the family goat.

Judge Witt hoped to get the two to live together and took them into his room for a conference. After an hour they reported there was no hope of their burying their differences and he gave her the divorce and the custody of the children. She gets the home at Morgan Acre tract.

Charging cruelty, Lola Shaw was granted a divorce from Leland Shaw, chiropractor, of Morgan Acre tracts, by Judge Witt this morning. She was given the custody of their two children, $75 a month temporary alimony and a property settlement.

     Luella Hershey was born in September 1886 at Jefferson Co., IL.¹ She was the daughter of John G. Hershey and Lucy J. Johnson.¹ Luella Hershey married George William Hazlip, son of Elvis David Hazlip and Elizabeth Wetzel, on 26 March 1914 at Mt. Vernon, Jefferson Co., IL. Luella Hershey lived in February 1920 at Grand Prairie Twp., Jefferson Co., IL.² She lived in April 1930 at Grand Prairie Twp., Jefferson Co., IL.³ She died in 1957.

     Lydia Hershey was born on 7 March 1818 at Washington Co., MD. She was the daughter of John Henry Hershey and Mary DeWald. Lydia Hershey lived on 16 September 1850 at Pine Creek Twp., Ogle Co., IL, Living with her brother Isaac per the 1850 census.¹ She married Jonathan Emmert on 25 September 1851 at Carroll Co., IL. Lydia Hershey lived on 8 June 1880 at Rose Hill Twp., Johnson Co., MO, farming.² She died on 15 July 1890 at Centerview, Johnson Co., MO, at age 72. She was buried in July 1890 at Centerview Cemetery, Centerview, Johnson Co., MO, Findagrave #15817245.

Lydia Hershey married John Herbert Stuff, son of Jeremiah Stuff and Anna Newcomer, on 28 February 1867 at Neosho Falls, Woodson Co., KS, After Lydia and John were married, they returned to Pine Creek Twp., and lived for three years on the Stuff homestead before purchasing their own farm home in Woosung Twp. They lived here for 50 Years, spending some winters in Florida, moving back in 1920 to Polo, Illinois. Lydia Hershey died on 7 February 1933 at Polo, Ogle Co., IL, at age 84. She was buried in February 1933 at Pine Creek Brethren Cemetery, Polo, Ogle Co., IL.

     Lydia Frantz Hershey was born on 9 September 1814 at Lancaster Co., PA. She was the daughter of John Hershey and Elizabeth Frantz. Lydia Frantz Hershey married Samuel G. Groff, son of Abraham S. Groff and Mary Groff. Lydia Frantz Hershey died on 6 January 1868 at Upper Leacock Twp., Lancaster Co., PA, at age 53. She was buried in January 1868 at Hershey-Groff Cemetery, Bareville, Lancaster Co., PA.
