     James Hillyer was born in 1773. He married Mary Hart. James Hillyer died in 1833. He was buried in 1833 at Fernwood Cemetery, Henderson, Henderson Co., KY, Findagrave #83822305.

     Mary S. Hillyer was born on 25 May 1817 at Kentucky.² She was the daughter of James Hillyer and Mary Hart. Mary S. Hillyer married William Starling Holloway, son of Maj. John Holloway and Anne Starling, on 18 February 1834.¹ Mary S. Hillyer died on 19 August 1898 at age 81. She was buried in August 1898 at Fernwood Cemetery, Henderson, Henderson Co., KY, Findagrave #85621625.

     Raymond Hilt was born on 3 December 1895.¹ He was the son of Howard Hilt.¹ Raymond Hilt married Christiana Elizabeth Price, daughter of Edward F. Price and Catherine Bartley, on 6 June 1924.¹

     Frances Hiltner was born circa 1905 at Ohio. She married Clarence Richard Miller.

     Agnes Hilton was born circa 1861 at Erie Co. (probably), OH.¹ She was the daughter of William Hilton and Mary (?)¹

     Ann Hilton was born on 11 December 1835 at Lancashire, England.¹ She was the daughter of James Hilton and Mary Metcalf.² Ann Hilton married George Swigert, son of Peter Swigert and Rebecca Tobias, on 12 May 1853 at Wells Co., IN. Ann Hilton died on 27 September 1908 at age 72. She was buried in 1908 at Twin Hill Cemetery, Pennville, Jay Co., IN, Findagrave #19962819.

     Arthur G. Hilton was born circa 1878 at Perkins Twp., Erie Co., OH.¹ He was the son of Willis Hilton and Ella M. Chapman.¹

     Blanche L. Hilton was born on 25 May 1873.² She was the daughter of Henry S. Hilton and Sarah King.² Blanche L. Hilton married Herbert Lincoln Harley, son of David Sower Harley and Jane Ann Phelps, on 12 May 1896.²

     Doris Maxine Hilton was buried at Newark Memorial Gardens. She was born on 10 August 1927 at Morrow Co., OH. She married Dale Larimore Willison, son of Allen Dale Willison and Mable Larimore, on 1 June 1952 at Centerburg, Knox Co., OH. Doris Maxine Hilton died on 3 October 1996 at Newark, Licking Co., OH, at age 69.

     Roger Francis Hilton was born on 22 September 1933 at Washington Co., IN. He was the son of Walter Francis Hilton and Bernice Fry Dawalt. Roger Francis Hilton died on 25 July 1985 at Dubois Co. (probably), IN, at age 51 dates per SSDI, last residence Jasper.

     Sarah A. Hilton was born on 19 May 1858 at Ohio Both parents born England, per 1900 census.¹ She was the daughter of William Hilton and Mary (?)² Sarah A. Hilton married Joseph Inman Covell, son of William Robertson Covell and Mary Jennette Henderson, in June 1882. Sarah A. Hilton died on 13 May 1921 at age 62.

     Walter Francis Hilton was also known as "Pete". He was born on 30 April 1911 at Washington Co., IN. He was the son of William Arthur Hilton and Alice Johnson. Walter Francis Hilton married Bernice Fry Dawalt, daughter of Perre Commodore Dawalt and Ethel Clara Hinds, on 9 November 1932 at Washington Co., IN.

Historical Society Enlightened With History Of Dawalt Family
The Washington County Historical Society met at 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 31, assembling for the first time in the Assembly Room in the Steven Memorial Museum. President Clara Marie Burns called the meeting to order and the minutes of the May meeting were read and approved, there having been no June meeting.
Mr. Everet Dean reported that some painting and minor repairs are to be made on the Hay House. Also plans are being made for the installation of the John L. Morrison Gateway, a memorial commemorating the many Revolutionary soldiers buried in Washington County, and a wrought iron railing on the porch of the museum.
Mrs. Lennie Berkey reported that work is still being done on the interior of Hay House and some help is needed.
A committee consisting of Eugene Cook, Helen Burgess, William Ferguson, and Jack Mahuron was appointed to work on amending the by-kaws.
The program was presented by Mr. Walter Hilton. He spoke of the arrival and early history of the Dawalt family in America. In 1763 there lived in the Palatine Country, west of the Rhine River in Germany, one Heindrick DerWaldt. Since the French controlled this land at times, the name was often spelled Devault. There are some 32 spellings of the name. About 1765 Heindrich, his wife Maria and at least one child left Rotterdam and came to America. There trip on the ship "Chance" lasted six months and they suffered many hardships. Just imagin spending such a long period on shipboard with no sanitation, probably no fresh fruit or vegetables and lacking all the comforts of the modern day ships.
Heindrich and his family settled in Manheim Township, York Co., Pennsylvania. A follower of Martin Luther, Heindrich took an active part in the Lutheran Church, helping build the Third Lutheran Church. He and Maria were buried in the cemetery there but in 1918 the entire cemetery was removed to the Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Heindrich rests there under a tombstone bearing the following inscription: "Death is a blessing to all mankind. It is the evening to that restless day which we call life."
During the Revolution Heindrick enlisted in the Continental army with a good record. In 1790 he took four sons to east Tennessee where he purchased 1000 acres in Sullivan County. Frederick and Valentine were given one farm and Henry and Gabriel the other. Frederick built the Devault Tavern at Leesburg and Valentine built one at Wautagua (sic) near Johnson City. Today the Devaults in Tennessee still carry the French spelling of the name.
Henry married Kitty Gross and came to Washington County about 1810. Much has been written about him both tht Tri-County and Stevens' Histories. He helped in the naming of Salem, was captain of the first militia, led the pursuit after the Pidgeon Roost Massacre and helped in the rescue of the Menaugh and Hemsley boys. Henry and Kitty had seven children, and from sons David and John Gross Dawalt are descended the Dawalt family of Salem today.

Walter Francis Hilton died on 18 March 1999 at age 87.

     William Hilton was born circa 1814 at England.¹ He married Mary (?).¹ William Hilton lived on 5 August 1870 at Perkins Twp., Erie Co., OH.¹ He died before 20 June 1880 at Perkins Twp., Erie Co., OH, not in 1880 census.

     William Arthur Hilton married Alice Johnson on 30 June 1907 at Washington Co., IN.

     Willis Hilton was born circa 1853 at Erie Co. (probably), OH.¹ He was the son of William Hilton and Mary (?)¹ Willis Hilton married Ella M. Chapman, daughter of William K. Chapman, circa 1876.²

     Roger Lee Hilyard was born on 12 June 1925 at Lima, Allen Co., OH. He married Kathleen Hazel (?). Roger Lee Hilyard died on 2 February 2017 at Fresno Co., CA, at age 91

Roger Lee Hilyard, beloved father, grandfather, and great grandfather passed away, surrounded by loved ones, at the age of 91 in Fresno after a short stay in the hospital. He was retired from Valley Foundry having worked many years as a welder. Roger was a renaissance man; he enjoyed travel, hunting, fishing, oil painting, and sculpting. For many years he was active in the Moose Lodge. He will be missed by all.

Roger was born in Lima, Ohio to Howard and Elizabeth Hilyard. The family moved to Fort Wayne where he lived until moving to Fresno in 1955. Roger left behind two sisters (deceased) and numerous nieces and nephews.

Roger is survived by his sons, Roger A. Hilyard and his wife Charmaine, Delbert Todd Hilyard, and daughters Dana Walker and her husband Bill, Sheila Schulteis (deceased); six grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Viewing will be at Yost and Webb February 7, from 5 to 8 p.m. and a graveside service to be held February 8, at 11 am. at Belmont Memorial Park.

     Samuel Himebaugh was born circa 1845 at Pennsylvania. He married Harriet Arwine. Samuel Himebaugh died on 11 August 1896 at Malvern, Mills Co., IA.

     Abraham Himes was the son of Israel Himes and Mary Stover.¹

     Eizabeth Himes was the daughter of Israel Himes and Mary Stover.¹

     Israel Himes married Mary Stover, daughter of Abraham Stover and Amy Rader, on 5 April 1830.¹
