Mr. Horn was the son of native born German parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Horn, Sr., who were among the early settlers of Cook county IL. He was living near Chicago at the time of the great Chicago fire and also at the time of the first Chicago World's Fair, two occasions of which he had told many interesting stories.

After moving to Hunnewell he opened a blacksmoith shop which is still being operated here as Horn and Son. He was a member of the Lutheran church.

Mr. Horn was first married to Miss. Marie Andres and five daughters and one son were born, four of whom now survive, John, Mrs. Anna Hollander, Mrs. Mary Kefter and Mrs. Harry Garnner.

To the union of his second marriage to Miss. Mary Sittel, who died about five years ago, were born four children, C.J., Misses Christina and Lily Horn and Will, who with John Horn, assisted his father in business here.

Hornaday or Hornady, and Nora May Wright.¹ She married Arthur Lee Bradberry on 24 November 1937 at Ouachita Co., AR. Virginia May Hornaday died on 31 July 1993 at Tennessee at age 81.      Artemissa Hornback married William C. Tackett, son of John Stone Tackett and Elizabeth Saunders Helphenstine.

     Marie Martha Hornback was born on 1 February 1900 at Flora, Clay Co., IL. She married William Harrison Ferree in 1920.
