Omer Edward Anderson died on 20 February 1950 at Little York, Washington Co., IN, at age 63 OBITUARY - The Salem, Indiana Leader, February 23, 1950:
Little York Farmer Drowns In Spring …..
Omer Anderson Meets Tragic Death While Cleaning Out …..
Spring At Farm;
Omer Anderson, 63, prominent Little York farmer, met tragic death by drowning Monday afternoon. His body was found, head downward, in the spring near a stock tank on his farm by two neighbors summoned by Mrs. Anderson when her husband failed to return to the house at chore time.
Clarence Gross and Bert Thompson discovered the tragedy about 6:45 p.m. Monday evening. Mr. Anderson’s head and shoulders were submerged in the water and mud in the bottom of the spring.
Death probably occurred about 1 p.m. according to Coroner Frank Newkirk, who pronounced the cause as accidental suffocation and drowning.
Mr. Anderson had talked with Mr. Thompson Monday afternoon and said he thought he would clean out the spring which furnished water for his stock. The spring is in the bottom of a well-like opening, with a pipe loading from it to the stock tank.
He has apparently dipped most of the water and mud from the spring and was attempting to clean out the pipe with a piece of wire when he slipped into the mud and water at the bottom.
Mrs. Anderson began looking for her husband when he failed to return to the house towards evening. Seeing his horses she thought perhaps he had gone on into the fields until she noted the dog had returned to the house. Becoming alarmed she called her neighbors and Mr. Thompson and Mr. Gross went to the spring.
Mr. Anderson had resided in the Little York community for the past five years. Before that time he lived in the Hickory Grove community in Franklin Township. He was a lifelong resident of the county.
He was born August 9, 1886 to William F. and Malinda Floyd Anderson. He was married to Lula Tash, daughter of Benton and Elva Tash.
He was buried in February 1950 at Crown Hill Cemetery, Salem, Washington Co., IN.

Obituary -- (Findagrave.com):
Peter Anton was born to an unwed mother named Sara Christina Blomberg. He used his mother's maiden name until he was about age 10 when he began to write in cursive. We have a school book of his in which he practiced writing his name. At first the family thought that he must have met his natural father & decided to take his name, but that does not seem to be what happened. A researcher in Sweden tried to track down the natural father. Sara, his mother, never lived or worked anywhere near someone with the name Anders thus Anderson. Peter was actually raised in part by a fisherman who took him in as a foster son. His name was Per Berggren, Peter became very close to him, because even after he married & went to America, he returned for Per Breggren's funeral. We believe he stayed close to his mother, they did move from one part of Sweden to another together for awhile, until Peter needed a father figure & wanted to learn to fish.
We really don't know the story of how he and future wife, Martha met, but they did marry and have a son in Sweden before applying to go to America. On those papers, he said he was a Fisherman by trade & moving to Youngstown, Ohio, USA. Martha, his wife, had family already located in Youngstown. Two more sons were born in Ohio & by 1910, Martha decided to move to San Francisco, California area. Peter wanted to move to Turlock, California & farm. His sons eventually all came with him & they did make trips to see Martha, but things were strange with her. She died just five years later in 1915, a relatively young woman, the name Rollins is on her tombstone, no divorce or marriage to a Rollins or anyone other than Peter has been found.
Peter lived until 1931, all three sons served and survived World War I & came home & married & had families. Their Find A Graves are attached to their father & mother's pages.
