He moved with some of his neighbors to Rockingham Co, VA pg. 136
His sister, Ann, and her husband William Tallman moved to the same area about the same time he did.
"Linville Creek is said to have taken its name from a member of an old 'Linville' family of Lancaster Co, PA. One, "Leinivelle" took up land on the creek in 1746. Thomas Linville, according to the Orange court order of 1743, was settled 'above the Ridge' by this time."-pg 283

Came with family in 1767 and settled on Linville Creek (Augusta then Rockingham Co) pg. 143.
He was born on 3 May 1716 at Monmouth Co., NJ. He was the son of Mordecai Lincoln and Hannah Salter. John Lincoln married Rebecca Flowers, daughter of Enoch Flower and Rebecca Barnett, on 5 July 1743 at Berks Co., PA. John Lincoln died in 1778 at Virginia.

Mordecai Lincoln died on 12 May 1736 at Amity, Berks Co., PA, at age 50.

Mordecai Lincoln married Mary Hobart, daughter of Caleb Hobart and Mary Eliot, on 17 February 1701 at Braintree, Norfolk Co., MA. Mordecai Lincoln died on 13 October 1727 at Scituate, Plymouth Co., MA, at age 70 “In his will of May 3, 1727, proved 27 March, 1728, provides liberally for w. Mary; gives ‘to son Mordecai £110 in lawful bills of credit, to son Abraham £60 in money or good bills of credit; besides what he hath already received; to son Isaac the house he now dwells in in Hingham, mill property,’ etc; ‘to son Jacob my homestead in Scituate, also land, mills, and other valuables;’ ‘to the eldest child of my sons Mordecai, and Abraham; to the two children of my deceased daughter Elizabeth Cole; to the eldest child of my daughter Sarah Tower; to Deborah Gannett, my wife's granddaughter; and to Mary Gannett, my wife's daughter.’ Provision is also made for sending three of his gr. ch. to coll., should they desire a liberal education. Inv. £3099 14s. 8d. ‘Blacksmith;’and the proprietor of iron-works, saw-mills, and grist-mills. Resided in the sec. pre., and at Scit. near Hing. line."
