Born Jan. 18, 1929, in Bloomington, he was the son of Harry and Florida (Higgins) Jackson.
He had worked in construction. He was a Navy veteran of the Korean War and was a member of the Spencer VFW.
Survivors include his wife of 34 years, Jessie Wolfe Ayres Jackson of Spencer; three daughters, Cheryl Jackson of Bloomington, and Rea Rhoads and Terri Jackson, both of Indianapolis; two stepdaughters, Susan Ayers of Cloverdale and Lisa Balliett of Solsberry; one stepson, Larry Rupp of Lyons; two brothers, Kenny Jackson and Richard Jackson, both of Ellettsville; 15 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one stepson, Rusty Rupp; one stepdaughter, Joyce Ethridge; two brothers, Billy Jackson and Leonard Jackson; three sisters, Marjorie Wylie, Dorothy Thrasher and Peggy Lee; and two infant sisters.
Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at West & Parrish & Pedigo Funeral Home, with the Rev. Jerry Sink officiating. Burial will be at Hudson Hill Cemetery, where military graveside rites will be conducted by the Spencer VFW and American Legion.

The bridegroom’s parents are Mr. and Mrs. Hillman J. Eckerson, of Steel Ave. The ceremony was performed in St. Mark’s Church in Layton, England.
Sgt. Eckerson met the former Miss Jackson while he was serving in England, where he has been stationed for 21 months.
He is now at a base in Warrington, and Mrs. Eckerson resides with her parents in Blackpool, a short distance away.
