Richard L. Jr., 38, of Marion, charged with third-offence drunken driving in connection with an Oct. 22, 1997, arrest, pleased guilty to second-offense drunken driving. He was fines $1,500 and sentenced to seven days in jail.

Rita Kay Johnson Lewyckyj, 58, of Port Charlotte, Fla., died Thursday, May 12, 2005.
She was born July 12, 1946, in Dearborn, Mich., and moved to this area in 1986 from Garden City, Mich.
She enjoyed her career as a nurse for 29 years and she also volunteered her time in the fight against breast cancer. She was a devoted, loving and compassionate wife, mother, grandmother and friend.
She is survived by her husband, Lew Lewyckyj of Port Charlotte; sons, Robert Salter of Shreveport, La., and John (Heather) Salter of Melbourne, Fla; daughter, Lisa Salter of San Bernardino, Calif; father and stepmother, Robert and Loretta Johnson, winter residents of Port Charlotte, Fla; and eight grandchildren. She was predeceased by her mother, Lois Wilma Anderson; and a brother, Ronald Lee Johnson.
Private services were held locally. A memorial service will be held at Franklin Cemetery, Salem, Ind., at a later date.
Kays Ponger Funeral Home, Port Charlotte Chapel, is in charge of arrangements.

He was a tool and die maker at the Ford Engineering Plant in Dearborn, Michigan for 29 years, retiring in 1982. Robert attended the Livonia Presbyterian Church, served in World War II as a Staff Sergeant in the US Army, and was awarded a Purple Heart. He was a member of the Little York Masonic Lodge #512 F. & A.M. for over 50 years.
Survivors include: stepson, Harvey Daley of Livonia, Michigan; stepdaughter, Kay (John) Begley of Louisville, Kentucky, several grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. Robert was preceded in death by one son and one daughter.
He was buried in October 2009 at Franklin Cemetery, Salem, Washington Co., IN, Findagrave #43585094.
