Blue Hill resident Norman L. Johnson, 96, died Sunday, February 4, 2007, at Blue Hill Care Center.

Funeral services are 11 a.m. Thursday at Blue Hill United Methodist Church with the Rev. Michael Burgess officiating. A prayer service for family and friends will be held at 9:30 a.m. Thursday at the church. Burial will follow the prayer service in Blue Hill Cemetery. Visitation is until 8 p.m. today and 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Simonson-WIlliams Funeral Home in Red Cloud and 8-9:30 a.m. Thursday at the church.

Memorials may be given to Blue Hill United Methodist Church.

Norman was married to Maxine McClure on June 9, 1932. They lived at Benkelman, Blue Hill and Juniata. She died on February 22, 1984. He retired from the Adams County Road Department in 1983, and returned to Blue Hill in 1984.

He was preceded in death by his wife; an infant brother, Melvin; and great grandsons, William Timm and Damon Talbott.

Survivors include three daughters: Marno and John Talbott of Roswell, N.M., Vonda and Fay Kapke of Lincoln, and Verna and Ed Kaufman of Bladen; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; eight stepgreat-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; one stepgreat-great-grandchild; sister, Mildred Hartman of Campbell; sister-in-law Marjorie VanBoening of Blue Hill; and brother-in-law, Glen and Leah McClure of Grand Island.

July 6, 1908 in Atkins, Arkansas. She was a bookkeeper and a longtime resident of Seminole. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Seminole, the Rebecca Lodge 242 and the B.P.W. Club. She is survived by her husband John Sherman Davis of the home; one son, Clyde Wayne Petete, McAlester; also four grandchildren, Gary Petete, Columbus, Ga., David Petete and Martha Petete, both of McAlester and Dwight Petete of Ada and one great-grandchild; four sisters, Della Knight and Gladys House, both of Seminole; and Ester Moss, and Opal Chilcoat, both of Holdenville; three nieces and one nephew. Rita Kay Johnson Lewyckyj, 58, of Port Charlotte, Fla., died Thursday, May 12, 2005.

She was born July 12, 1946, in Dearborn, Mich., and moved to this area in 1986 from Garden City, Mich.

She enjoyed her career as a nurse for 29 years and she also volunteered her time in the fight against breast cancer. She was a devoted, loving and compassionate wife, mother, grandmother and friend.

She is survived by her husband, Lew Lewyckyj of Port Charlotte; sons, Robert Salter of Shreveport, La., and John (Heather) Salter of Melbourne, Fla; daughter, Lisa Salter of San Bernardino, Calif; father and stepmother, Robert and Loretta Johnson, winter residents of Port Charlotte, Fla; and eight grandchildren. She was predeceased by her mother, Lois Wilma Anderson; and a brother, Ronald Lee Johnson.

Private services were held locally. A memorial service will be held at Franklin Cemetery, Salem, Ind., at a later date.

Robert passed away in the Washington County Memorial Hospital. He was the son of the late Ralph and Edith (Motsinger) Johnson.

Robert married May 27, 1977 to Beatrice P. (Deacon) Johnson, who passed away December 2, 1992. He next married in 2001 to Loretta J. (Williams) Robison Johnson, who survives. He was a tool and die maker at the Ford Engineering Plant in Dearborn, Michigan for 29 years, retiring in 1982. Robert attended the Livonia Presbyterian Church, served in World War II as a Staff Sergeant in the US Army, and was awarded a Purple Heart. He was a member of the Little York Masonic Lodge #512 F. & A.M. for over 50 years.

Survivors include: stepson, Harvey Daley of Livonia, Michigan; stepdaughter, Kay (John) Begley of Louisville, Kentucky, several grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. Robert was preceded in death by one son and one daughter.

He was buried in October 2009 at Franklin Cemetery, Salem, Washington Co., IN, Findagrave #43585094.

     Robert Clarence Johnson was born in January 1853 at Arkansas.¹ He married Romina T. Blythe on 8 October 1876 at Hopkins Co., TX. Robert Clarence Johnson lived on 12 June 1900 at Vernon, Wilbarger Co., TX, mechanic, agricultural implements.¹ He died in 1929.
