Charles B. Jones

Charles B. Jones, 80, of Reno, NV, journeyed to his heavenly home on April 2, 2004 at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center.

"Charley" was born in Downs, Kansas to Ralph and Zula Jones on January 24, 1924. His family moved to Beloit, KS during his teen years where he graduated from Beloit High School in May, 1942. He enlisted in the US Air Force (sic) following the attack on Pearl Harbor and proudly served his country as a radio operator and a top turret gunner on a B-24 in the Pacific.

Near the war's end in 1945, he married his high school sweetheart, Beth Davis. They moved to Denver, CO for a short time, but chose to raise their family in southern CA, where they moved in 1949.

Charley managed a metal plating company for many years. He and Beth shared two hobbies with a passion: fishing and motorcycle riding. They enjoyed several vacations riding cross country, each on their own bike.

He retired at age 77 to Reno where he and Beth sought out their favorite fishing holes. They faithfully attended Grace Church in Reno.

He is survived by Beth, his wife of 59 years, son Rod of Reno; daughters Terri Elwood, CA, Gayle Jones of ID; sister Dorothy Verhage of MI; 7 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren; and 3 great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Debbie Contreras.

"You will be greatly missed for now, we anticipate with much joy being reunited with you when, one by one, we begin our new eternal life."

Private family services to be held. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the American Cancer Society.

Charles Manning Jones married Gussie Ruth Cremer, daughter of Guy Ferris Cremer and Ella Leona Greene, on 18 January 1925 at Tarrant Co., TX. Charles Manning Jones died on 22 September 1963 at Ft. Worth, Tarrant Co., TX, at age 64. He was buried in September 1963 at Hawkins Cemetery, Arlington, Tarrant Co., TX.

     Claude D. Jones began military service Mr. Jones served in the Spanish-American War; was 2 years in the Philippines. Went to China in the relief expedition. Volunteered in 1917; served in France; returned with rank of Captain. Is Lieut. Col. in Reserve Officers at Denver, Col.¹ He married Effie Alice Cox, daughter of Jacob Washington Cox and Lydia Alice Miller, on 24 July 1908.¹ Claude D. Jones lived in 1926 at 220 S. Emerson Street, Denver, Denver Co., CO.¹

     Clifford L. Jones was born on 3 October 1888.¹ He was the son of Arnold Jones and Jennie Black.¹ Clifford L. Jones married Mary J. Davis, daughter of Stephen Alexander Davis Sr. and Sarah Agnes Price, on 11 November 1908, Ceremony by Rev. Dr. M. A. Mathew.¹ Clifford L. Jones lived in 1926 at Auburn, King Co., WA.¹

     Clyde Jones was the son of D. Watson Jones and Annie Stubblebine.¹

     Cyril Harry Jones was born in 1888. He married Mabelle H. Keene. Cyril Harry Jones died in 1957. He was buried in 1957 at Chamberlain Cemetery, Kingsville, Kleberg Co., TX.
