The former Beatrice C. Kall was born in Hazelgreen, Wis. She married Andreas F. Hurling in September 1943 in Rock Island. He died in 1960.
She formerly worked at Mulkey's Restaurant in Rock Island and later worked as a Rock Island school crossing guard for 11 years.
She lived in Rock Island from 1940 to 1980. She then lived in Green Rock before moving to East Moline.
She was a member of the church.
Survivors include daughters Shirley Timbrook, Green Rock, and Harriett Watson, East Moline; a son, Leroy, Green Rock; five grandchildren; and a brother, Ben, Dubuque, Iowa.

She was buried in February 1986 at Calvary Cemetery, Rock Island, Rock Island Co., IL, Findagrave #154622216.

David Lyle Kalwishky

David Lyle Kalwishky passed away on February 1, 2022 from complications due to COVID pneumonia. He would have been 94 on February 11th.

David spent the majority of his life in Des Moines, Iowa where he worked as an electrician for Iowa Power and Light Company. Upon his early retirement, he and his wife Rosalie relocated to Sun City, Arizona I 1997.

A loving father, animal lover, avid golfer and lover of the dance floor, Dave was a friend to many. For over 20 years, Dave joined his dear friends for daily coffee at a local breakfast restaurant, one of his favorite activities.

He is survived by three daughters: Diane Sauer (Bob Smith) of Lincoln, California; Cindy Cox (Garry) of Waukee, Iowa; Joan Tursi (Joe) of Des Moines, Iowa; eith grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, brother Lee Kalwishky of Urbandale, Iowa; sister Janice Day of Overland Park, Kansas and several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his beloved wife Rosalie Kalwishky, mother Marie Kalwishky, father Edward Kalwishky, niece Debbie Neff and nephew Scott Kalwishky.

A private celebration of life will be held at a future date.

Margaret was born October 30, 1916 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa to August and Ada Kampmeier. She attended public schools and Coe College before graduating Phi Beta Kappa from the University of Iowa.

She worked in the actuarial department of Acacia Mutual Life Insurance Company in Washington, DC from 1937-40.

In 1939, she married Harold L. McCollum and together they reared two daughters and two sons.

Margaret served as president of the Community Blood Bank of Central Iowa, Polk County Easter Seal Society, Des Moines Council of PTA, Des Moines American Association of University Women, and YWCA. She participated on the state boards of PTA, AAUW, League of Women Voters, and Iowa Mothers and the national boards of AAUW and American Mothers, Inc. Margaret has been a leader in United Way, Women's Board of National Conference of Christians and Jews, National Junior Tennis League and helped to organize the Volunteer Bureau, Blood Bank Auxiliary, YWCA's Childcare Center, and "First Call for Help." She was an Elder for Westminster Presbyterian Church and volunteered with the Friendship Force, Retired Senior Volunteer Program, and Iowa Senior Games. She was honored by the Jayceettes as Outstanding Woman of the Year and by the YWCA as a Woman of Achievement. She was selected to be the 1967 University of Iowa Representative Mother of the Year. In 1971, the Iowa Mothers Association chose Margaret as the Iowa Mother of the Year. She earned USTA national tennis rankings in her 80's and was elected to the Iowa Tennis Hall of Fame in 2003. She was inducted into the Iowa Senior Olympics Hall of Fame in 2006.

In addition to her husband, survivors include two daughters, Laura (AI) Baetz and Carol (Rod) Faino; two sons, Tom (Kay) and Gordon (Lynn); eleven grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, one brother-in-law, and two sisters-in-law.

Her parents, sister, two brothers, and two sisters-in-law preceded her in death.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be directed to Westminster Presbyterian Church, Hospice of Central Iowa, or the Greater Des Moines Tennis Association.

Margaret cherished her family and friends, played tennis through, 89, volunteered whenever asked, and wrote a family letter for more than 60 years. All who knew her will remember her warm smile and kind words.
