Stouffer and Elizabeth Strowbridge, circa 1880, the marriage must have occurred very shortly after the 1880 census, in which Martha is listed living with her parents.1

Mrs. Simon Arnold died at her home in Mt. Etna this (Wednesday) morning at 2 o'clock. She was about 77 years of age. The funeral services will be held at the Dunkard church Friday afternoon, conducted by the pastor, and interment will be made in the Dunkard cemetery. Mrs. Arnold has been a resident of Mt. Etna for about 17 years, the faculty having located there after a residence in the northeastern part of the state. She is survived by her husband and three sons, Walter and Eldon, near Mt. Etna, and Norman in the northeastern part of the state; also an adopted daughter, Mrs. Jacob Thomas, of Mt. Etna vicinity.

ETHAN A. KLINE

Funeral services were held on Saturday at Cook's funeral home in Baltimore for Ethan B. Kline, a native of Franklin County, who died at St. Joseph's Hospital, Baltimore, on January 31.

Mr. Kline was born March 6, 1872, near Welsh Run, son of the late D. B. and Louise Blair Kline.

Survivors inlcude: Two sons and a daughter, Arthur, of Philadelphia; Milton, and Mrs. Elsie Lowery, both of Baltimore; a step-son, John Evans, Baltimore; three sisters, Mrs. Anna M. Roland, Alttona; Mrs. Lenora Stenger, and Mrs. Wililam Hahn, near Chambersburg; a number of grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

The next door neighbor of the Klines in 1900 was a Mary Black, age 65, widow of William Black, with only her grandson, George (son of her son William), age 11, in the household. Possibly the John Black who was the father of Evelyn Maye Kline had some family relationship with this Mary Black. There were multiple men named John Black who lived in the area of Franklin County in the first decade of the 20th century -- identification of the father of Evelyn Kline appears to be unfeasible with publicly available documentation. Funeral services will be held tomorrow at 2 p.m. from the Lininger Funeral Chapel in Mercersburg with the Rev. John F. Stamm officiating.

Interment will be made in the Fairview Cemetery, Mercersburg.
