Mabel A. Hover, 78, a Phoenix homemaker, died Jan. 5, 1988, at John C. Lincoln Hospital & Health Center. She was born in Halstead, Kan. Survivors include sons, John C. Jr. and W. Robert; three grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. Services will be held at noon Saturday at Grimshaw Bethany Chapel, 710 W. Bethany Home Road. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.

Margaret Louise Kirk and Kenneth Neal Hand were divorced before 1947; A 1947 Dallas city directory shows Kenneth was remarried to Martha. Margaret Louise Kirk died after 1970 Margaret L. Hand is listed in the 1970 Dallas city directory.

     Susan Joan Kirk was born on 4 May 1954 at Dodge City, Ford Co., KS. She was the daughter of Leo James Kirk and Margaret Joan Kemp. Susan Joan Kirk died on 26 June 2003 at Linn Co., OR, at age 49.

     Thomas C. Kirk was born on 5 April 1877 at Halstead, Harvey Co., KS.² He was the son of George Kirk and Jane Cooper Horn. Thomas C. Kirk began military service Spanish American War service, Co. E, 21 Kansas Infantry. He married Olive May Long, daughter of Daniel M. Long and Alice Welty, in 1907.¹ Thomas C. Kirk lived on 25 April 1910 at 706 North Monroe Street, Hutchinson, Reno Co., KS, teamster laborer.² He lived in 1926 at Hutchinson, Reno Co., KS.¹ He died on 2 March 1967 at Wyoming at age 89.

     Traine Colwell Kirk was born on 24 November 1862 at Jefferson Twp., Fayette Co., OH.¹ He was the son of Henry Kirk and Elmira Parrett.¹ Traine Colwell Kirk married Nora P. Traine C. Kirk was born November 24, 1862 on the old Kirk farm, two and a half miles south of Jeffersonville. He was born in the same house where his father was born in 1821. He attended the Smith school in his home neighborhood and later the Roebuck and Walnut Ridge schools. He attended high school at Jeffersonville, after which he spent one year at Valparaiso University in Valparaiso, Indiana. He began farming for himself at the age of thirty on rented land and a few years later bought his present farm of one hundred and three acres on the Welt Road near Jeffersonville. The farm is highly improved and he has kept it in a high state of productivity by scientific crop rotation and commercial fertilizers. The farm is known throughout the county as the Poplar Grove Farm, the name being chosen by his two sons.
Mr. Kirk was married May 26, 1896 to Nora P. Eichelberger, the daughter of G. M. and Hannah (Coyner) Eichelberger and to this union have been born two sons, Willard C. and Grayson L.
The Republican party claims the support of Mr. Kirk but he has never been active in political matters. He is an active member of the Methodist Episcopal Church at Jeffersonville and a trustee of that denomination. He and his family have been active in all church and Sunday school work for several years. In fact, they actively identify themselves with all worthy movements which have for their end the betterment of the community in any way.

     Walter Whittaker Kirk was born on 5 December 1861 at Indiana. He was the son of John Denison Coult and Margaret Priscilla Lee. Walter Whittaker Kirk married Emeratta Manda Marzee Hood, daughter of Isaac Newton Hood and Sarah Maria Louise Larimore, on 24 February 1890 at Williamson Co., TX. Walter Whittaker Kirk lived on 9 June 1900 at Justice Precinct 4, Williamson Co., TX, Farming.¹ He died on 28 December 1935 at age 74. Obit: Thurs 26 Nov 1970 Times Recorder, Zanesville, Ohio Caldwell - James D. Kirkbride, 80 of Pleasant City Route 1, a retired farmer, died at 2:30 A.M. Wednesday (Nov. 25) at his home of an apparent heart attack. He was born Oct. 21, 1890. in Noble County, a son of Peter and Matilda Brothers Kirkbride. He was a life resident of the area. Surviving are his widow, Rebecca Weaver Kirkbride, six sons, four daughters, 35 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild; a brother, Lawrence Kirkbride of Caldwell; two sisters, Mrs. Jessie Flynn of Mount Perry and Mrs. Rachel Ankrom of Lore City. Friends may call at McVay Funeral Home here 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. today and Friday. Services will be held at 1 P.M. Saturday at the funeral home with Rev. Harvey Bates officiating. rs. Margaret Stephens, 83, died Tuesday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Roy Holliard of Barnesville route 1, following a brief illness. She made her home with her daughter for the past 10 years. Mrs. Stephens was a native of Noble County and was born April 3, 1887, a daughter of Peter and Matilda Brothers Kirkbride. She was formerly resided in the Seneca lake community. Mrs. Stephens was a member of the Kennonsburg Methodist Church. Her husband, Justice, preceded her in death in 1947. Surviving in addition to her daughter are four brothers, Lawrence and Simeon Kirkbride of Caldwell, James and Oliver Kirkbride, of Sarahsville; two sisters, Mrs. Earnest Ankrom, of Lore City and Mrs. Jessie Flynn of Mount Perry; one grandchild and four great-grandchildren. The body was removed to the Eberle Funeral Home at Quaker City where services were held at 1 P.M. Friday with the Rev. William Irvin officiating. Burial was made in the Kennonsburg Cemetery. Thursday 12 Jan. 1961 Noble County Leader.
