     Dr. James Harvey Ashabranner was born on 31 December 1862 at Dead Man's Hollow area, Clark Co., IN. He married Mary E. Robertson, daughter of William H. Dr. James H. Ashabranner, 75, widely known in medical and literary circles of the city for many years, died at 10:30 o'clock Wednesday night in St. Edward's Hospital from a heart ailment. He had been confined to the institution since January, 1932.
Dr. Ashabranner, who began the practice of medicine thirty-seven years ago, was graduated from the Electic medical College of Cincinnati in 1899. He located in New Albany and later removed to Los Angeles, where he remained only a short time. He returned to this city and continued his profession until he was stricken ill.
A native of Clark county, Dr. Ashabranner was born and reared in the vicinity of "Dead Man's Hollow." He received his early education in that county and also attended a college in Marengo, then known for it's high standing as an educational center.
For a number of years, Dr. Ashabranner served as secretary of the old Y. M. C. A. and also had charge of its library, which was the forerunner of the Public library made possible through the Carnegie Foundation. He became the first librarian in the new building at Bank and Spring streets.
Dr. Ashabranner joined the Floyd County Medical society sixteen years ago and was a former vice president of the organization. He was one of the founders of LaBelle Chapter, Order of Eastern Star, and served as its first worthy patron. He was also a member of DePauw Lodge of Masons and of the Trinity M. E. Church. Dr. Ashabranner and his wife, who died several years ago, were active in church work, taking prominent roles in musical programs.
Dr. Ashabranner enjoyed unusual literary talent and his work was recognized by nationally known magazines which published his contributions. His local contributions which were made exclusively to The Tribune, included chiefly poems on timely subjects.
He wrote frequently during the time he was confined to his bed in the hospital. His last poem, which appeared in this publication several weeks ago, entitled "Woman," was dedicated to Helen Louise Probert, chosen "Miss New Albany" in a bathing beauty contest.
Dr. Ashabranner traveled extensively. A few years ago he made a trip to Hawaii.
Surviving are a number of nephews and nieces.
The body is at the Mullineaux Chapel, Spring and Thirteenth streets, where funeral services will be conducted at 3 o'clock Friday afternoon. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.

Funeral services for Dr. James H. Ashabranner, 75, local physician for many years, were held Friday afternoon in the Mullineaux Chapel. Burial took place in Fairview Cemetery. He died Wednesday night in St. Edward's Hospital.
The active pallbearers were Harvey Peake, Frank P. Clipp, Osborne G. Reilly, Robert Devol, Joseph J. Helck and Clarence Strack. The honorary pallbearers included James W. Dunbar, Charles Wood, Henry Ehalt, John Mitchell, Sr., and Dr. P. H. Schoen.

     Jasper Newton Ashabranner was born in March 1841 at Washington Co., IN. He married Nancy Mull on 18 October 1860 at Washington Co., IN. Jasper Newton Ashabranner died on 15 April 1910 at California at age 69.

     Jack Lee Ashbaugh was born on 6 April 1946 at Greene Co., OH. He died on 25 December 2005 at age 59.

     Elizabeth Ashbridge married Isaac Starr, son of Isaac Starr and Margaret Lightfoot, on 15 May 1762.

     Jane Ashbridge married Thomas Starr, son of Isaac Starr and Margaret Lightfoot, on 3 October 1754 at Goshen MM, PA.

     Hannah Ashcraft was born circa 1775 Calculated from headstone inscription "Aged 54 years." She married Thomas Colvin. Hannah Ashcraft died on 28 July 1829. She was buried in 1829 at Chapman Cemetery, Danville, Highland Co., OH, Findagrave #40652357.

     Ronald H. Ashdown was born on 21 September 1939 at Fremont, Sandusky Co., OH. He married Ute I. Eberhardt on 18 February 1966. Ronald H. Ashdown died on 26 July 2014 at Greenfield, Hancock Co., IN, at age 74. He was buried in July 2014 at Harlan Cemetery, Hancock Co., IN, Findagrave #161374725.

     Elva Emmeline Asher was born on 31 May 1881 at Oaktown, Knox Co., IN.¹ She was the daughter of George Allen Asher and Nancy Ellen Orndorff.¹ Elva Emmeline Asher married George William Sonner, son of James Knox Polk Sonner and Eliza Jane Shaffner, circa 1901 at Knox Co. (probably), IN.² Elva Emmeline Asher died on 29 November 1964 at Vincennes, Knox Co., IN, at age 83.

     George Allen Asher was born in February 1858 at Indiana.¹ He married Nancy Ellen Orndorff on 1 February 1880 at Knox Co., IN. George Allen Asher died on 20 February 1913 at Rocky Ford, Otero Co., CO.

     Helen Ashford was born circa 1824 at Kentucky.¹ She was the daughter of Wesley Ashford and Nancy Porter. Helen Ashford married James Moffett on 1 July 1847 at Woodford Co., KY. Helen Ashford died before 13 July 1860 at Woodford Co., KY, her children were living with her parents as of the 1860 census.

     Wesley Ashford was born circa 1799 at Kentucky.¹ He married Nancy Porter on 17 December 1818 at Woodford Co., KY. Wesley Ashford lived on 13 July 1860 at P.O. Versailles, Woodford Co., KY, farming, his grandchildren Nancy and James Moffett were living in his household.² He died after 13 July 1860 at Woodford Co., KY.

     Ada O. Ashley was born on 25 December 1880 at Guernsey Co., OH.^1,2 She married Joseph Ward Geese on 13 October 1906 at Guernsey Co., OH. Ada O. Ashley died on 23 March 1960 at Ohio at age 79. She was buried in March 1960 at Northwood Cemetery, Cambridge, Guernsey Co., OH, Findagrave #105637839.

     John Joseph Ashley was born in March 1863 at Missouri.¹ He married Ida M. Childers on 5 April 1885 at Clark Co., MO. John Joseph Ashley died in March 1941. He was buried on 23 March 1941 at Oakland Cemetery, Keokuk, Lee Co., IA, Findagrave #112753843.

     Nettie Mae Ashley was born on 27 April 1889 at Alexandria, Clark Co., MO. She was the daughter of John Joseph Ashley and Ida M. Childers.¹ Nettie Mae Ashley married Oscar Bennett McCoy, son of Silas Bennett McCoy and Martha Ellen Davalt, on 8 February 1911. Nettie Mae Ashley died on 8 February 1975 at age 85. She was buried in February 1975 at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Keokuk, Lee Co., IA, Findagrave #98862063.

     Polly Ann Ashley was born on 22 February 1870 at Tennessee.¹ She married John Marshall Thomas. Polly Ann Ashley died on 29 June 1916 at Alvarado, Washington Co., VA, at age 46.

     Charles Ashman married Ann Ruth Robinson.

     Edith May Ashman was born in March 1882. She was the daughter of Charles Ashman and Ann Ruth Robinson. Edith May Ashman married Woodard Robert Boston, son of Jacob P. Boston and Anna M. Connor. Edith May Ashman was buried in 1971 at Washingtonville Cemetery, Washingtonville, Mahoning Co., OH. She died in 1971.

     Emily Ashman was born on 2 November 1853 at Somerset, England. She married George Firth circa 1868 at OH. Emily Ashman died on 17 October 1929 at Akron, Summit Co., OH, at age 75. She was buried in October 1929 at Washingtonville Cemetery, Washingtonville, Mahoning Co., OH, Findagrave #6160046.

     Florence Kyle Ashmead was born on 4 September 1898 at Libertyville, Jefferson Co., IA. She married Henry Vanibor Belvel, son of James Henry Belvel and Maud Mae McLaughlin, in 1925. Florence Kyle Ashmead and Henry Vanibor Belvel were divorced in 1935. Florence Kyle Ashmead died on 25 January 1979 at age 80. She was buried in January 1979 at Shaul Cemetery, Ottumwa, Wapello Co., IA.
Note: Prior to her marriage to Henry Belvel, Florence gave birth to a son, Morris Leland Ashmead, about 1918 or 1919. Subsequently she married Clarence J. Smith, and had two daughters with him before they divorced, and she remarried to Henry Belvel. Morris L. Ashmead, a U.S. Navy seaman, was killed in WW II.

     Anna Grace Ashton was born on 5 May 1895 at Licking Co., OH.¹ She was the daughter of John Henry Ashton and Angeline Catherine Jewett.¹ Anna Grace Ashton married George Franklin Sims, son of Matthew Clark Sims and Anna Leah Kreps, on 8 June 1927.

     Arthur Blaine Ashton was born on 8 November 1884 at Belmont, Lafayette Co., WI. He married Chloe Scifers, daughter of John Landon Scifers and Elizabeth Catherine Loughead, on 3 September 1912 at Hugo, Lincoln Co., CO. Arthur Blaine Ashton died on 13 February 1956 at Eads, Prowers Co., CO, at age 71.

     Carl Ashton was born on 31 January 1879 at Union Twp., Licking Co., OH.¹ He was the son of Stephen Arthur Ashton and Drucilla Jane Haynes.¹

     Carla Ashton was born in 1950. She was the daughter of Robert Harding Ashton. Carla Ashton died on 28 February 2008 at Colorado Springs, El Paso Co., CO.

     Caroline Ashton was born on 15 September 1855 at Union Twp., Licking Co., OH, Per headstone. Probably was actually 1853, as per 1860 and 1870 censuses. DLB 2017.^1,2,3 She was the daughter of Mary Ashton. Caroline Ashton married Nicholas Emmert.³ Caroline Ashton lived on 11 June 1880 at Luray, Licking Co., OH.³ She lived on 7 June 1900 at 158 Jefferson Street, Newark, Licking Co., OH.⁴ She died on 28 January 1935 at age 79. She was buried in 1935 at Cedar Hill Cemetery, Newark, Licking Co., OH, Find A Grave Memorial# 97936183.

     Charles Leroy Ashton was born on 11 September 1894 at Indiana. He was the son of Joseph William Ashton and Laura Etta Deairk. Charles Leroy Ashton married Minnie Evelyn Roerk, daughter of Frank Miller Roerk and Susanna Jackson, on 10 October 1916 at Clark Co., IN. JEFFERSONVILLE --Charles Leroy Ashton, 71, of 1130 Spring, a retired Pennsylvania Railroad engineer, died at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Clark County memorial hospital. He was a member of Morton Memorial Methodist church.
Survivors are the widow, Mrs. Elizabeth Ashton; a son, Charles W. Ashton, Clarksville; a daughter, Mrs. Marcella Kishoski, Tucson, Ariz; two step-sons, Ralph Kelton, Jeffersonville, and Thomas Kelton, Clarksville; a step-daughter, Mrs. Joyce Habermel, New Albany; a foster sister, Miss Alberta Long, Jeffersonville; 16 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. a.m. Thursday at the Coots Funeral home. Burial will be in the Walnut Ridge cemetery.

     Charles William Ashton was born on 29 September 1917 at Jeffersonville, Clark Co., IN. He was the son of Charles Leroy Ashton and Minnie Evelyn Roerk. Charles William Ashton married Wilma Branham in 1947, at least three children, including daughters born to this marriage. Charles William Ashton died on 11 March 1984 at Clarksville, Clark Co., IN, at age 66.

     Clyde B. Ashton was born on 12 March 1876 at Rochester Twp., Sangamon Co. (probably), IL.¹ He was the son of Harrison Ashton and Mary E. Bover.¹ Clyde B. Ashton died on 3 April 1899 at age 23. He was buried in April 1899 at Rochester Cemetery, Rochester, Sangamon Co., IL.

     Cora M. Ashton was born circa 1876 at Union Twp., Licking Co., OH.¹ She was the daughter of Frederick Ashton and Jane H. Mead.¹

     Edith Ashton married (?) Williams. Edith Ashton was born circa 1914 at Sangamon Co. (probably), IL.¹ She was the daughter of Fred R. Ashton and Rena Hart.¹
