He was born on 17 December 1819 at Bruchmühlbach, Palatinate (now Rhein-Pfalz), Germany, Headstone says 1820.1 He was the son of Christian Adam Munzinger and Maria Eva Krick. Charles Munsinger was christened on 19 December 1819 at Christened "Karl" at Lambsborn Evangelical Lutheran Church, Lambsborn, Palatinate.2 He married Electa Northrup, daughter of John Wesley Northrup and Amelia Knight, on 23 October 1849 at Lorain Co., OH. Occupation: Nurseryman, Rawls Township, Mills Co., Iowa in 1880.3 Charles Munsinger died on 3 February 1905 at Tabor, Mills Co., IA, at age 85 Obituary (Mills County Tribune, Glenwood, IA, Tuesday, Feb. 7, 1905):
     The well known pioneer citizen of Mills County, died Saturday night of pneumonia at his home two miles north of Tabor. He leaves a wife and one daughter, a Mrs. J. B. Buchanan of Denver, also a brother Joseph Munsinger, near Tabor. The funeral was held Monday afternoon at Tabor.

Obituary (The Opinion, Glenwood, IA, Thursday, Feb. 9, 1905)
     Resident of Tabor, died of pneumonia this past week; funeral held Monday. Came to Tabor from Brownhelm, Lorraine County, Ohio in 1856. Prominent in church and social life as well as in insurance business. Member, Tabor Historical Society. Leaves a wife and 1 daughter, Mrs. Evangel Buchanan of Denver. He was buried in February 1905 at Tabor Cemetery, Tabor, Mills Co., IA.
Note: After her father's death in 1905, daughter Evangeline initiated a legal proceeding in 1906 to have a guardian appointed to supervise the estate of Charles Munsinger.

Electa initiated a lawsuit against her daughter in 1911 to establish her ownership and control of the estate.

Charles Grandison Munsinger married Zebbie Ann Gates, daughter of Zebadee Gates and Elizabeth Glenn, in 1883, A third child (son) died in infancy. Occupation: Railroad Inspector at Harlan, KS, then mail carrier. Charles Grandison Munsinger lived in 1912 at Harlan, Smith Co., KS; per 1912 Topeka Capital article re: John Munsinger's 100th birthday.
