CLINTON, Iowa -- services for F.H. Leap LePrevost, 72, of Clinton will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Clinton Chapel of Snell-Zornig Funeral Home. Burial will be in Springdale Cemetery.

Visitation is 4 to 6 p.m and 7 to 9 p.m. today.

A memorial has been established.

Mr. LePrevost died Sunday at Jane Lamb Hospital.

He retired in 1978 from LePrevost Floor Covering Co., Clinton, formerly the John E. Holm Floor Covering Co. He had been principal at Greenwood, Neb., High School for four years. He served as physical education director at Clinton YMCA and had coached and taught at Clinton High school.

Mr. LePrevost married Emma Holm in 1937 in Clinton.

He graduated from the former Wartburg College, Clinton, and received his master's degree in history in 1936 from University of Iowa, Iowa City. He was a member of Clinton Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Mrs. William (Julie Ann) Hall, Piedmont, Okla; sons, F. H. "Larry" Jr., Clinton; John, Malibu, Calif; and Dale, Miami; 11 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a brother, Ford, Clinton.

He was buried in July 1985 at Springdale Cemetery, Clinton, Clinton Co., IA, Findagrave #163278603.

BARNESVILLE---Barney Leach, 540 Hilles Ave., died at 10:30 A.M. Tuesday in Barnesville Hospital.

Born Sept. 13, 1895, in Monroe County, he was the son of Samuel and Angelic Leach. A veteran of World War I, he was a post member of the Barnesville Post VFW.

He leaves his wife, Grace; three daughters, Mrs. Helen Wehr and Mrs. Ethel Carpenter, Barnesville, and Mrs. Cledith Carpenter, Summerfield; a son Jack of Barnesville; 16 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Acel and Arch, both of Quaker City and Ellis of Summerfield; and three sisters, Mrs. Harriett Carpenter, Uhrichsville, Mrs. Jennie Flood, Hopewell and Mrs. Kate Floyd, Zanesville; a son Danford, three brothers and a sister are deceased.

Note: A marriage record of a Sarah Leach to Thomas Smith on 31 JUL 1839 exists in Washington County, Indiana. In the 1840 census, a "Thos." Smith is listed, with wife in the 20-29 age range, with a son under 5. No such Thomas Smith is found in the 1850 census. It was not common for a woman to revert to her maiden name in that time, but if she found herself widowed and the baby did not survive, she might have resumed using her maiden name prior to marrying Andrew Kettrey.
