BERTHA E. (Betty) WELCH

Services for Bertha E. (Betty) Welch, 88, of Kilgore will be at 4 p.m. Friday at the Rader Funeral Home chapel with the Dr. R. Clayton Worden officiating.

Burial will be at Kilgore Cemetery.

Mrs. Welch died today at Kilgore Nursing Center.

Born March 11, 1905, in Barbra (sic) County, Kan., she had been a resident of Kilgore since 1932. She was a homemaker and a member of the First Christian Church in Kilgore. She was preceded in death by her husband Mr. Jay E. Welch in 1977.

Survivors include two sisters, Mrs. Gladys Welch of Conroe and Mrs. Mabel Rogers of Sun City, Ariz; two grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, four great-great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

She was buried in August 1993 at Kilgore City Cemetery, Kilgore, Gregg Co., TX, Findagrave #63271133.

     Blaine Hershell Lewis was born on 22 January 1904 at Weston, Lewis Co., WV, per newspaper obituary. His WW II draft registration shows "Buchanan", West Virginia, which may have been a mis-understanding of Buckhannon, Upshur County, which is near Weston in Lewis County. DLB 2020.¹ He married Jean H. Matthews in 1929.¹ Blaine Hershell Lewis and Jean H. Matthews were divorced on 18 December 1973 at Volusia Co., FL. Blaine Hershell Lewis died on 27 November 1979 at Daytona Beach, Volusia Co., FL, at age 75.

     C. H. Lewis was born on 1 October 1883.¹ He was the son of Frank Lewis.¹ C. H. Lewis married Maude Lillian Cress, daughter of Edward E. Cress and Ann Berlin, on 2 August 1903.¹ C. H. Lewis lived in 1926 at 119 N. Emporia Ave., Wichita, Sedgwick Co., KS.¹

     Carl Earl Lewis was born on 3 June 1912 at Foster Co., ND.¹ He was the son of Wilford Roscoe Lewis and Ethel Sonner.¹ Carl Earl Lewis died on 23 July 1920 at 690 High Street, Wabash, Wabash Co., IN, at age 8. Cause of death: Scarlet fever.
