Herbert Allen Maden, 87, 5 Jonesborough, died Thursday, Dec. 21. 1989, in Four Oakes Health Care Center after a lengthy illness.

Mr. Maden was a native of Washington County and a son of the late Arch D. and Glenda Susong Maden.

He was a member of Jonesborough United Methodist Church.

Mr. Maden was a retired farmer.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mrs. Laura Keefauver Maden, two brothers and one grandson.

Mr. Maden was a Washington County native and a son of the late Herbert A. and Laura Keefauver Maden.

He retired from AFG Industries, Kingsport, after 35 years of service.

Mr. Maden won several motor sports races in the 1950s and 1960s.

He was a charter member of Trinity Baptist Church, Jonesborough.

Mr. Maden was preceded in death by one nephew.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Elizabeth A. Maden; two sons, Tim A. Maden and Tony S. Maden, both of Jonesborough; one brother, Ralph E. Maden, Jonesborough; one sister, Dorothy Barnes Gibbs, Jonesborough; three grandsons; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
