Lawrence Owen Lyons, 83, Springfield, died at 6:55 p.m. Sunday [February 25, 1990] in Cox Medical Center South, apparently of a heart attack.

Born Oct. 10, 1906, in Springfield, he was the eighth child of Robert P. and Sally Owen Lyons. He attended Southwest Missouri State University for two years and Draughon Business College for two years, majoring in business. He began his career as one of the first 12 men hired in 1933 at the U.S. Federal Medical Center during the Great Depression. Eleven years later, he went into private business and subsequently developed a small shopping center and Lakewood Mobile Home Park. He retired in 1968 and enjoyed many years of traveling, one of his great loves, in his recreational vehicle. He was united in marriage to Merle Edmonds on June 22, 1935. He is survived by his wife; a son, John, and his wife, Priscilla; a daughter, Sally McAlear, and her husband, John, Springfield; a brother, Joseph, Springfield; two sisters, Elizabeth Lyons, Springfield, and Blanche Rathjen, Los Angeles, Calif; and two grandchildren, David Owen and Patrick Allen Lyons. He was preceded in death by a son, Patrick Owen Lyons.

Funeral Mass will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in St. Agnes Chapel with the Rev. Thomas Reidy officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery under the direction of Herman Lohmeyer Funeral Home.

Patrick Owen Lyons was the second child of Lawrence and Merle (Edmonds) Lyons. He was known as Rick to his family and friends. Rick was educated at St. Joseph Elementary School and Reed Junior High School in Springfield and attended Willard High School (in nearby Willard) for two years and Hillcrest High School (in Springfield) the last two years. After high school, Rick enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served four years. While in the Navy, he qualified for submarine duty and was a sonar technician aboard the USS Sam Houston, a Polaris submarine. His average patrols underwater were 60 days. Rick returned home to Springfield in February of 1966 and began his college education that September at Missouri State University (then Southwest Missouri State University) where he was an honor student majoring in pre electrical engineering and a member of Kappa Mu Epsilon Mathematics Honor Society and Young Democrats. He was to have completed his engineering degree at Missouri University of Science and Technology (in Rolla, Phelps County, Missouri) and planned to go on for a master's and doctorate in electrical engineering but was killed in the crash of a small plane near Republic, Missouri, on 9 August 1968. Rick's hobbies were playing the guitar (by ear as he did not read notes), motorcycling with his father (in search of log cabins in rural areas), and flying. He also had a love of sports cars. Rick's joy of life, love of family, energy, and sense of humor were some of his many positive traits.

Ralph Dwain Lyons, 92, of Independence, went to be with our Lord Friday, February 4, 2005 at Windy Hill Manor in Kingwood.

He was born December 1, 1912 in Newburg, the son of the late Charles Edward and Carrie Lucricia Riley Lyons. A retired coal miner with over forty years of service, he began working in the mines at the age of 14 as a hand loader. He was Methodist, enjoyed square dancing and loved gardening, hunting and teaching his grandchildren to dance. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Alberta Trickett Lyons; one son and spouse, Robert and Mary Lyons; four daughters and spouses, Catherine and Robert McGee, Patricia and Larry Deal; Donna and William Nutter and Debora and Arnold Stevenson; nine grandchildren, Pamala Feathers, Susan Casteel, Mechele Allen, Anthony Deal, Brian Deal, Gregg Nutter, Marsha Hardesty, Scott Stevenson, Melisa Stevenson and 14 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two grandsons, John Lyons and Christopher Nutter; four brothers and four sisters.

Funeral services were conducted at 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 7, 2005 in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Delbert Lyons officiating. RUTH, Age 85, Septenber 11, 2011. Lifelong resident of Wyandotte. Ruth was an active member of St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, the Episcopal Church Women (ECW), and Sunday School teacher for 17 years. She also worked for many years as a receptionist at Marcia's School of Dance in Wyandotte. She is survived by her daughter Shelley (Gerry) Olexsey, son Gavin (Kathleen) Haag, and grandchildren Andrew Olexsey, Jenna Olexsey and Ceilya Haag. Preceded in death by husband John M.
